alrighty,ik that theres a lot of people who have started Mines of Moria tables/boards and such and i've been meaning to start my own for a while now.so here goes,i'm working on the Dwarrowdelf at the moment(my favorite).my plan is to make a portable version of it by the means of detachable pillars;which are being constucted of card board and foam board.even though i don't have any official minis i might-as-well make it anyways so that next time i see a bargain on goblins i can get em,lol.no pics yet, just have a few templates made so far. :^) -Reaper- |

Looking good, it'll come out nicely. Are you doing the hall? or the tomb itself? |

thanks.oh,at the moment just the hall.if i do anything else it'd prob be the west gate or the mines just past that(i personally love the idea of playing a match in a multi level "mines and catwalk at the edge of a gorge" board, but thats prob gonna be another time) |

Ok,well I had almost forgot about this project because I had started a Helms Deep (just the keep and wall) and all I have to do on that now is to spackle it a bit more then paint it.Anyhoo, back to the MoM,well since I am more than likely get into TMG(it'd need an act or sign of God to tell me otherwise)and backing a ways a bit from SBG (It is a bit more expensive but I'll still play) I decided to make a MoM board. The thing is that my idea for making cardboard printouts wasn't the best(at least for me) so what I'm doing is taking some Milk/Almond Milk/OJ/etc. cartons(the waxed paper kind) and cutting them 3 inches above the base all around, flipping them over and hot glue on the foam cutouts that I had made earlier. For the actual "pillar" itself I'm cutting off the tops of half&half/eggnog cartons(same hight just not as wide) and hot gluing them to the "base".I made 3 last night and and and extra base but I still need to make the cutouts for the upper detail/shapes/arrows-that-point-upwards that are on the pillars as well.Ok,one more thing, since these are in TMG scale(not really but are going to be used for it)they are about 300% bigger than my first attempt and i'm going to glue them to some hex bases(made from cardboard or something, idk) and be able to take them/pop them off the main hex "floor" for travel and storage purposes.Anyhoo, pics to come soon hopefully |

Alright,updates..Well on account of the fact that the picture hosting websites programs seem to hate my guts here is another update of the board. For those who don't want to read the whole post the main hall section is 100% done(it feels so good to get something 100% done compared to my usual 98-99.9% projects(I'm the Da Vinci of modeling)).Anyhoo, here is: http://blackreaper93.blogspot.com/2011/ ... te_07.html |

Thanks,oh,and thanks for that too.Last night I was etching on the stone/brick texture and cut out where the archs go and the ruined/missing part of the middle section.I still gotta carve the two big boys yet(take me an hour or so I figure) |

Looks all very familiar to me. Well done, BlackReaper! Your next move will be the production of some thirty-odd hex-shaped steps, I guess… (believe me, that was the best part of the job! ) Can’t wait to hear about your stair games. |

Hahahaha! I bet,29,lol.Actually what I was gonna do before I printed out and painted over the paper templates for the main hall was to cut out a bunch of cardboard hexs to glue on but but it would've taken 285 of em so I stopped cutting at 25.What i'm gonna due now that I got more glue is to glue the hexs to some craft foam and cut them off of that, lol. |
