Hey All, This is my first post here on one-ring. I'm new to the website and love it so far. I am currently planning out a Moria table and I just wanted to see if anyone had any suggestions. I'm in the process of painting all the minis for it right now, but am starting to think about the table. I will be re-creating the scene from the films where the Fellowship is surrounded by goblins in the hall after escaping the Chamber of Mazarbul. If anyone has any pictures of this particular Hall or knows where any are located that would be amazing. Or if anyone has worked on or is working on a similar project I'd love to share ideas! Cheers, Brandon |

Its the Dwarrowdelf, I believe? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Dwarrodelf.jpg IIRC, there wasa an article in a White Dwarf or on the (old) GW site about making a table that had the 'battle' sites in Moria used in the film, with Balin's tomb, the Dwarrowdelf, and the bridge. That was the old site though. It used mirrors on either side of the Dwarrowdelf to create the impression it went on forever. You could check the archive. http://web.archive.org/ EDIT: Sorry, wrong link. EDIT: Found it. But there are no pictures. http://web.archive.org/web/200509100425 ... efault.htm |

I'm building the same thing aswell. My building list. 4 - 24"x24"x3" Square Base Terrain with a Length and Width carved for rocks. (Done) 4 - 24"x24"x1.5" Square Base Terrain 3 - 12"x24"x1" Chasm to attach to my base terrain when wanted 1 - 24"x24"x3" Hill, 2 Layers and cut in half (Done) 1 - 48"x48"x3" Hill, 2 Layers and cut in quarters 6 - 3"x3"x18" Dwarrowdelf Pillar's. (Started) 1 - Fallen Pillar 3 - Bridges across the Chasm 4 - Random shaped Rock Piles/bones/piles of bodies for difficult/defensible terrain. 1 - Mining Cart railway terrain 1 - Dwarven Archway (I got the box from a warehouse size of Kraft dinner and it looks ideal) I'm skipping the tomb. That will be it than I'm off to Osgiliath. It will take me awhile but that's my plan. |

Thx for all the links guys! These have helped alot. I'm working on finishing up another project first but am hoping to start soon. I've started doing some basic sketches. I'm looking at a 3 foot wide X 9 foot long table. But I'm thinking I'll build it in 3 X 3 sections for portability. I'm going to have the Chamber Of Mazarbul with the staircase out of the back (I believe thats where it was) leading into the Dwarrowdelf and then the Dwarrowdelf itself. Should I take pictures when I start building and post a guide as I go? I've also painted 72 Moria Goblins in the last few months and was thinking about posting a guide for them. Drumtastic wrote: The 'Library' should be back up soon enough to give you some inspiration if your looking for some. I can't wait for The Library to be back up. Is there a projected date does anyone know?

I would like to see the photos as you build.I like a lot of input when I build.I am sure you will have lots of good ideas. MY goblins have been done for years but still I would like to see what you have been working on. Quote: I've started doing some basic sketches. I'm looking at a 3 foot wide X 9 foot long table. But I'm thinking I'll build it in 3 X 3 sections for portability. It is a good idea to plain on how to store and transport it too. The 3X3will not fit on a shelf, in a small closet or on the back seat of a car.Unless you make it stack-able the whole table won't fit in a small pick up either.Don't Think I am trying to discourage you. I am not. A friend had two 4X12 tables. They are great, They had built in shelf's and casters to roll around on and were built like furniture. When he had to move he had to give them away.I had to use a large equipment trailer to move them to the game store. They were big but we got them moved. Of course my house was way to small. If you have room then 3X3 sounds great. |
