Hi :)
I'v decided to start a WIP on Helms Deep. I'm using the guide in the Two Towers journeybook. So far I have the first part of the Deeping wall made, I just have to do the brickwork, then it is ready to paint :)

Well done. Are you using the same colours as in the TT book?

Are you going to do a rohan/galadhrim army as well?

Keep up the good work. :-D

Well yes, but not the Games workshop named ones. I'm just using a dark grey and then a lighter grey colour testers from b&q I think

The front side of the wall looks good 8) but I think you should add more bricks to the opposite side; the big gaps in the brickwork doesn't look very realistic.

small update, no pictures though :(
I've got the piece of the deeping wall with the culvert made, and have most of the bricks done, just need to do the ones on the back now. But I might not be updating for a while as I'm starting exams, but I'll try get some done on the weekends. Also, does anyone know how I could make a couple of ladders like the ones the uruks haul up to the hornburg? I'll be getting an uruk-hai siege assault ballista soon and will be making up a couple of special rules for the siege regarding the raising of massive ladders to the hornburg.
Thanks :)

Arn't there special rules for siege balista's?
I thought I read something about them somewhere.
Perhaps in a BGIME magazine, or else in the big blue book.

If I see them, I'l let you know.

Edit:
I found the rules.

They are in the rulebook on page 123.
Under the rules of the Ballista, "raise the ladders!".

I can't post the rules though.

Thanks, Yeah I know about those rules, but I also want to make one up where you can use the ballista to raise the huge ladders like in the movie. And I might make a special rule for the siege that legolas can spent a might point or something and try shoot down the ladder

Perhaps it's an idea to give the ladders batter points?
Or wounds, but give it a small odd to hit it.

And, because the ladders are somewhat bigger, you need more carriers, and so more uruks around it. That means, that if you raise the ladder, more uruks are on the ladder when it get's deployed.

I think your helms deep is my favorite at the moment. I can't wait to see some more updates.

Did you just undercoat them with black spray paint of did you need to seal the foam first?

thanks 8) Yeah I first sealed the foam with watered down PVA glue, then I just sprayed it black, then a drybrush of dark grey, then a drybrush of lighter grey. Simple, yet effective :-D
