Trying to get back into the hobby is about as hard as not making fun of Ben Affleck after watching one of his movies. My attempt to get back in however is starting off with a bang. What is this bang you ask? Well why dont you explain to me?
Got ya
On second thought, why dont I explain to you? A rather large piece of very hard uncuttable foamboard managed to find its way into my basement quite some time ago and it seemed like the perfect base for a board. So I kept it and nailed it to some wood supports. I then bought an even larger piece of half inch blue foam. Now, a city is in the works. The only thing I am stumped on is the layout of the city and the type of buildings to put in it. I have already created a few cardboard prototype buildings and will post them when I can get around to taking the pictures. It will be a stone city, with similar features to Osgiliath or Gondolin as I intend to use it for both men and elves. Any advice or diagrams on layouts or buildings would be great. Thanks, Zach |

Glad to see you're getting back into the hobby My personal advice would be to check out this place http://www.thehobbykingdom.com/Marketplace.aspx?CID=54 Browse their textured plasticard, that stuff is great for making buildings. Good prank by the way. You really did get me |

Nope, just three poor souls trying to get you into the "do it yourself" mindset. Here's another link I found recently, I thought it was fairly useful. t http://www.thepalantir.org/ca/terrain/r ... ev002.html |

Only one of the pictures seem to work but it looks like a good start. Do you plan one making the bottom part accessible or just the roof? |

After trying to complete this building for the past few weeks I have realized one thing, I am a damn perfectionist. The bricking I tried to put on was less than a mm slanted and it bugged me for days. I redid the doorway piece over 3 times just to find outmy doorway was slanted. I cannot get the stairs to look good at all! I have decided to change my look on this board and go with a more natural less stone construction type board. The board will be one that can resemble and old Gondorian/Elvish river village. (Farms, orchards, stone and woood buildings made with white stone and green vines growing, wooded, green grass, stone and dirt roadways, etc.) Well thats my ambition, I just need some inspiration and motivation! Please if you have any pictures of real life or modeled landscapes or places that look like this, post them!! Thanks, Zach |

any pictures of real life Here are a few pictures I have from a trip to India. They may not all be relevant or helpful, I just went with the idea of buildings with plants growing on them, though I hope they help. Good luck with your project, I'm looking forwards to seeing pics.
