After getting the WotR rulebook, reading through it and deciding that I needed to play that game; I started talking about a painting challenge in my gaming group, "Tale of 4 gamers" style. I did a review of the game, spreaded the word around, and at the moments, we are eleven new WotR players, frantically planning our new thigh painting schedule. We went relax with the rules, just suggesting painting about 250pts a month for 6 months, with the goal of a 1500pts full painted playable army. For those interested, you can follow the progress of the group on our local forum. It's in French, but "pictures are worth a thousand words". Not a lot of stuff right now, we just started in June, but it should get full of painted minis quite soon. My army I hesitated between the dwarfs and Isengard, but as there was already a stunty player, I went for the army of Sarumane. So, after all that talk, here come the minis. My first month goal is 4 companies of Uruk-hais (2 with pikes) and a Troll. So for, got my first four LotR minis painted, 4 Fighting Uruk-hais with shield. With a blurry short of the first in the batch, my colour test guy. I went for the standard colour scheme, wanting something quite easy to paint, which will not fill up to quickly my spare time. Comments are welcomed, good or bad. |

Yes, that's true. The first one (and the only one whom we see the front of the shield in fact) was worst than the other, but that can't be seen on the photo. Also, the picture does make it stand out even more, probably because of reflection on the metallic pigments. However, I corrected it tonight. It will be better on the next pictures. |

First company done, only waiting for a movement tray. I reworked the highlights on the shield to smooth them a bit. What I still have to paint this month:

You might want to tell your Fallen Realms player that he can't use Sauron, the Necromancer as his Leader. He can only be an ally. |

Yes, he now knows. He posted his list here and was informed of it. He changed to a pure Mordor force now I think. |

Nice models! The metals are a little bright for Uruk-hai IMO, but other than that they're great, especially the highlighting! Keep it up! |

You're not the first one to make that comment. The photo does make it look a bit brighter than in person, but not that much. They do are a bit shiny for a evil force. I'll see the overall effect when they get their movement tray, but another retouch of the armour is not impossible. If there was not an hundred more waiting after them... |

Here are the Phalanx that complete June, with some delay. As you can see (or not, because of the lighting's problem I had yesterday), the armours are darker, less flashy. I find it a lot better suited to this army. I won't go over the first Uruk-hais I made to change it, but the next ones are going to be like that. For July, I set myself a bigger goal, but as the month is already half past, I can almost say I will not make it, again. However, the scouts might be quicker to paint, so I'll see.
