gluing painted sand on it? - just a bit? - you sure that works? seems like a strange idea Smile might work dunno , i should try it once Smile

yea just a bit. The sand gives some texture for the dry brush. If you use lots it will not work as well.
Some people rap masking tape around tree trunks to give the trunk some texture.
My brother made some wire tree trunks with a hot glue gun.
You are good with clay. I bet you could make that work too.

this is a article I posted some years a go

I will look for some of photos of some trees I made

I like what you have done so far. Why don't you add some colored glitter it will make the treasure look like it is covered in gems . I saw the rinestones good idea.

Yeah you r right, my treasure could use some more detailed objects. I like how you have done yours. I ll go and ask my sis if she got glitters for me ;)
And for the rest i have no idea what objects i should add... I got some pearls as diamonds and rings. I putted a inch nail in it and painted a bird on it. I also glued a coin to one of the sides. And when i am going to varnish i think i ll put on a thick coat to make it more shiney.

My treasure is Painted D&D models. Metallic paint over black primer with varnish that has glitter in it already. I found the varnish in a craft store.

Your pond looks very nice. The old figures will make very nice statues. A friend of mine makes statues from old toys. I used an old plastic Harry Potter chest set to make some big ones. You can paint them to look like stone or bronze.

To make old bronze over brush black with green then dry brush it gold.

my camera is really old it is not as good as yours for close up work.
You can not see the smaller figures but some of them are the old click toys you can find really cheap :yay:

@oldman willow - those statues of yours are looking good enough for me

@donuthare - You might be right about that - it's probably a bit unnatural looking... But i am sure everyone will say that it's water  - I ll try to do something about it ;) if i can't change it without damaging - then i will keep it in mind for the next time

Your lake is amazing, I think the blue looks just fine, I mean, it doesn't have to be 100% accurate anyway and the water is blue because it is reflecting the sky.

What plans do you have for the statues?

i think i could use the statues as movable terrain pieces. Or I should try to integrate them in a building or something. But i have no idea yet what kind of building i should make for that.

Heh...hehe.

You seem to have a slight problem of "telling people how it should be" if you don't like how they did it you basically tell them they did it wrong and they HAVE to do it your way....perhaps try making suggestions in the future, i.e. instead of what you said, something like "I personally think the blue looks unnatural, maybe you could try using brown instead?"

Anyway, back on topic--I quite disagree, I think the blue looks fine. Brown would make it look like a mud puddle IMHO. I think it's a very nice piece, good detail and fairly realistic. Keep up the good work! 8)

I remembered where the glitters where - so i couldn't wait to try it out. It doesn't look as good on the pic as in real. But they really give a nice effect. Ty for the hint Oldman Willow.

I think it turned out well. The clay dragon turned out well too. You are good with the clay Why don't you make a small base for one of the statues. If you make it a separate piece then you could use it as part of the dragon hoard or in a grave yard. You could put it in the pond sometimes and make it part of some ancient fountain.

I can't wait to see what you make next :yay:

I really wanted to sculpt a figure... So i started with a ring wraith This is what i got...
Image
Image

I know my sculpting isn't super great. It took me two hours and half to make it tough. And i think he is a little bit bigger then a regular human... I hope that's not a problem ... Maybe i should get him of the base and glue him on a piece of cardboard so that he look about average size.. But perhaps it's best to put him in the oven first. Might damage it . Fimo is really soft....
