Nice work JW - can't wait to see your warband. RRG are notoriously hard to paint!

Yeah i know, i looked at loads of pictures including the ones that you did before i started. The rider looks good shame the horse blocks out all the clothing, armour etc. Just a test and now i can copy the style for my foot versions. Must have courage

I agree, some very good Royal guard. Do they come with the sword option or are they conversions?

They come with both swords and spears..

I think they are some of the most good looking models in the Lotr range though the prices on especially the mounted ones is keeping me from adding some to my collection :(

Very nice work on them John, you did the model more than justice..
Can't wait the see the whole army together! :yay:

Brilliant work on those. Should look pretty good when you've completed the warband.

Finished my Rohan Royal Guard :D . Please ignore the pants banner. Its hard to do free hand banners :( I especialy like king Theoden. My favourite model/pose as well. God i hate that banner!

These are awesome JW - These miniatures are notoriously hard to paint well and you have smashed them mate!!!! Theoden looks great too. Nothing at all wrong with the banner , nice clean lines, good design. Top marks mate.

A real contender in my opinion. :yay:

those guards are fantastic, both the paintjob and the base are superb. :yay: :yay:
If you want to improve your freehand banner, you might want to print out one of those.
http://www.one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=7&p=290370#p290370 And then you could just do paint by numbers :) .
It might sound a bit strange but it always helps me with my banners, as my freehand is almost non-existent.

They are really impressive. What I like best is the consistency across the group. Painting one to a high standard is hard enough but a whole warband takes a lot of skill.

Howdy pilgrim.
Those are stunning RRG! They are among my favorite troops in terms of appearance in both the movies and as mini-sculpts and you have brought out the best in them.
