Great stuff. I've not tried to do any object-source-lighting on my miniatures, although this miniature, along with Nocturne's ringwaiths have made me want to give it a try.

Great work, KJ! I've also not been brave enough to try OSL, but you may have inspired me to give it a try on my Gandalf. :)

Great work, KJ. :)

I was seriously tempted to join this thread but I am painting and basing a Discworld mini as a present for a friend and I want to spend all my time and limited painting talent upon that. Best of luck folks! I like what I am seeing so far!

That looks really good, KJ. Very, very nice idea and well executed :yay:

I've started painting my Gandalf now, I have got some pre painted pictures to post up but cannot do it at the moment.

Saruman looks great KJ!

Here is my proof that Gandalf wasn't already painted.

I've been meaning to paint this model for about 5 years so this is a great excuse to actually get around to it.

The osl looks great from the side of the mini, that is if you are looking saruman in the face. From the side it does look a little weird but the front view more than makes up for it. :yay: :)

Wait a second. Was I supposed to take a pic of the bare pewter as proof it wasn't already painted? :?

I didn't, if I was supposed to.

Well, anyways, here's my WIP Cirdan. Decided to paint him instead of Gandalf the White. 8)

Looking at him again, I'm simply not pleased. His skin especially I know I can do better on. I may strip him and start over. :)

The OSL on Saruman certainly looks dramatic; nice work KJ Necromancer! 8)

And, though the pic is quite small, Cirdan looks good so far Anduril Blade of Kings.

Keep it up guys! :)

I've started on Gandalf. Like all of my most recent minis, I've primed them white but tried that new trick from the GW Blog update - covering the white primer with a wash. This allows the recesses to get tinted but still preserving the relatively light undercoat for making brighter colors. All I've painted so far is the fur on Shadowfax:
