Wow awesome work Dave!

I'm salivating a little at the prospect of what we talked about the other day - unlucky for you I have zero cash right now but one day soon :P

What a spectacular conversion of Glorfindel! So cool, love the bow and love the quiver. Course come action time he's going to have to pick between his weapons. Really a cool conversion.

No problem Kristen. I'm looking forward to doing that one as and when you need it.

Great work as usual, I'm still floored by the stone giant and can't wait to see what comes of a certain spider related project you have coming up for me ;)

I love your collaborations with DMS it's producing some awesome results!! Must admit I'm very jealous of the awesome sculpts at DMS' disposal but he does your brilliant sculpting work justice with his brilliant painting. Great work looking forward to many more productions :)

Unfortunately this fantastic sculpt does not belong to me tho I will be putting an order in for my own in the non too distant future. This guy is a commission collaboration between myself and Dave.

Let’s see if I get this: Dave is doing these fantastic GW surpassing & outshining sculpts… Next, he sends these single, unique minis to DMS who applies a Golden Demon worthy coat of paint. Then, for some at least, it’s off again to a mystery customer who… puts them away in a drawer? A box?

Lost! Lost, my Precious!!!

What has happened to the Stone Giant? Is he gonna produce any offspring? Any chance of meeting a descendant in the Hall of Fame at Lenton? (There’s a stray goat in the best of families).

Well, it seems that I have found the answer:

But you would all want one for around £30 and it just would not be cost effective to mould, produce, and package them at that price. Plus it would not be fair for DMS to fork out for the initial commission fee only to see much cheaper reproductions appear shortly afterwards.
DMS doesn't simply buy mini's from me, He basically hires me to labouriously create spiffy miniatures for him that no-one else on the planet own. A unique piece of art if you like. You will have to ask him of course but I think he understands just what skill, time, patience and effort is required to produce scratch sculpts to a reasonable standard. And that is why commissioned pieces appear so expensive when compared with factory churned out castings.

Even more difficult than sculpting these models is, probably, putting them in an envelope and see them off...
Unless, of course, you can trust that the next artist is raising your work to an even higher level! :D

Purchasing a mini, and hiring a sculptor to create one for you are two quite different things I hope you'll appreciate. :)

Well done, both! :yay:

I'm happy to say that the Stone Giant belongs to me :D . he is alive and well in my display case. It will be pretty hard to post Glorfindel off to the client. I am just hoping to paint him quickly and then wrap him up and post him before I get too attatched. At least I can rest in the knowledge that there will soon be an identical Glorfindel conversion in my own collection, once Dave's finished sunning himself in Spain.

You're right there! Of course DMS does always shares his photos with us all once done though, and I console myself knowing they have gone on to a better place (Plus he does pay for them lol). It's a shame sometimes sending minis away and then not hearing anything back from the customer. But it helps pay the bills nonetheless.

Viva España! just 3 days to go :D (But I have a house sitter looking after the cat, before anyone thinks to come round and swipe my entire mini's collection  :-D )

Thanks everyone for all the positive comments and encouragement. I'm really enjoying sculpting again at the moment after falling into a hobby lul a couple of years ago. It is fun working (mainly) with DMS coming up with new ways to amaze the One-Ring community. 8)

That Glorfindel looks much better than the original :yay:

Not sure that Mordor Uruk needed all the effort though, awesome though it is.

I'm sure DMS would disagree with you there. I just do as I'm told :-D There are also reasons he needed the whole thing to be non-GW produced (i.e. scratch sculpted instead of converted).
