Thanks guys.

I have sculpted and assembled Murin and Drar for the sculpting and converting competition.

They were good fun to do.

I will take better photo's with better lighting in the future.

Now they just need to be painted.

Bloody fantastic! I see that you used some heads from the Wargames Factory Viking Huscarl set for some other conversions. Did you also use Viking parts for Murin and Drar?

Yeah I used a few bits and bobs from the WGF Viking kit. There are so many spare pieces in those sets they are just screaming at me to use them.

Well, I guess I am improving. Plus I used a few existing spare parts from Wargames factory sprues.

I am sculpting an Isengard troll, but it will be based off the uruk-hai berserker.

Here it is so far. The white stuff is normal sculpey (the cheaper less quality kind) and the beige stuff is super sculpey (much better quality).

I was going to give him a six pack but I couldn't get the look right with him leaning forward and all so I thought a few rolls of fat would look much better.

Early days but the pose looks a good one. It will be interesting to watch this unfold.

Indeed, I like the premise of this guy, and that shield looks pretty cool. 8)

I am always amazed by the number of people on this site who are dab hands at the sculpting. Your Murin & Drar are superb (when are we going to see them painted?) and as for this berserker troll, I am really looking forward to that.
My only thoughts are that, like the Uruk berserkers, he would be less likely to use a shield, preferring either to wield one massive weapon in both hands or have weapons in both hands and deal out death left and right. The shield could still be used - strapped across his back as protection for the blind spot when he charges into the midst of the enemy, making a breach in their line for the uruk-hai to exploit.

was thinking the same thing, they don't need defense - that's for scardey pants, they are furious and feel no pain! so no need of armour! despite wounds they encouter they keep fighting, that's making them fearsome
