You are a true artist.
There aren't a lot of people who can make someone's bowels look beautiful.
You have found a way to give them a lot of character. 8)

Looking forward to the next update

Yes Chris. I'll be using existing upper bodies for the riders, just sculpting in their bottom halves.

The barding should really only be a token gesture, if you want the underlying exposed bones and ruined flesh to be easily visible. The horses look great.

They are old warhammer horses that I picked up on ebay for not a lot of money.

They are a little bigger than the plastic rohan horses, about the same size as mounted glorfindels horse. I cut pieces from the legs and removed a vertebra to make them a bit smaller. But then the army of the dead figures are much larger than rohan plastic men, so it is all relative. One of the GW dead riders matches rohan, the other is in the bigger scale which matches what I've done. I'll take scale pics once I'm done.

Thanks for taking the time to go through the thread. The troll bodies were done with a press mould that I poured plaster into. I have a half finished Fir Ent around somewhere but I don't have time to work on my own projects at the moment as I have a stack of commissioned sculpts to crack out first, so it will be a while before that gets finished.

cheers think i'll give it a go myself got to many troll arms and heads lying about to waste. No doubt DMS will post pics up when they're done so look forward to seeing them!!!

What did you use for the press molds and was it any specific plaster that you used? also did you press each half of the troll, then put the finished molds together??

No it was a two piece mould (RTV Rubber)that you could pour the plaster into, then pull the two halves apart leaving the cast once set.

Ok, by now most of you will have seen the epic painting and basing by DMS for his Stone Giant model. If not I suggest you check it out immediately by scrolling to the bottom of his WIP thread: http://www.one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=21425&start=840

To show just how impressive he is at breathing character into minis, I show you pictures of how it was just before I mailed it to him:

So you can see DMS makes my average sculpting look amazing (which I am most grateful for).

This was of course a one of a kind private commission that DMS hired me to make, so there will not be any casts made before anyone asks. :P
He also has me working on something else now too. He likes to keep me busy. And I enjoy making stuff for him. :-D

Cheers Kev, and well done mate. 8)
