re the original post. I love Markarth, its definately my favourite city in Skyrim.
For further Skyrim Dwarvish inspiration, be sure to go to Blackreach. I've not been there myself yet (I restart too often, as in
OCD often ) but I've heard its amazing. Its a massive underground city with numerous zones and entrances, so big that it makes other Dwarven cities look like Villages. There are some cool things there like a MASSIVE underground cavern (so big you could probably fit Solitude inside it), lit by giant glowing mushrooms.
You might also want to check out Lord of the Rings Online (which I happen to playing as I write this
). There are plenty of Dwarven cities and ruins throughout the game, though of course they're considerably less detailed than Skyrim and the level designs are large scale as is typical for MMOs but you might get some ideas and inspiration.
