Yes, eagles will come, not for a while, eventually. Currently working on the WoTR Angmar Army, all ghost and Riders of the Dead. I had originally planned a different paint scheme but changed it at the last minute. I will post some tests to get some opinions, not crazy about any of them since they were experiments. Well, I sorta like one, but we shall see.

Okay, here is the command group for the Morannons. It has been a couple of weeks and I do not remember all of the colors.
Red Cloth-Red Gore (GW) shaded with Badab Black(GW wash)highlighted with Dragon Red(reaper) - Can not see them real great in the photos
Green Cloth-Pine green (reaper) Shaded with Green Black ink (vallejo)
Black Cloth- Can not remember, but I think it was the dark grey GW foundation with added codex grey for highlights
Flesh-gnoll flesh(reaper)with white added for highlights.
wood poles are charred brown(GW)
White cloth is ivory(vallejo model color) washed with the GW sepia wash.
Metal is Boltgun(GW) washed with Badab black wash(GW) drybrushed with Mithril Silver(GW)
Image

Next up are the ghosts
All were based coated with Army Painter Bone Spray
Drybrushed with Skull White(GW)
Washed with Green Black ink(vallejo)
Very slight glaze of Mthirl Silver on the Metal
The brown one was dipped in Army Painter strong tone not washed with the green, the metal was glazed with magic blue(vallejo game color)
Image

Last up is one rider of the dead and my converted orc horn blower
Can not remember the colors on the hornblower, I just painted the metal this past week and called it done. That model has been seeing a lot of game time and only painted every so often.
The rider is painted the same was as the others but with the wood done with brown ink and the green with slightly less ink in the wash( not happy with it :( )

The colours on the ghosts are great and I like the bases on the Morannon Commanders a lot. Great job 8)

I love the middle ghost's paint scheme! I may do something similar when I start painting my Ghostly Riders.

I forgot about the bases. They are painted with a Burnt Umber cheapo dollar paint. The real neat trick is the materials on the bases. I Combined GW baseing sand, fine talus from Woodland Scenics and Gale Force 9 arid grass mixed @ 1:1:1.
Erunion, I have really become a fan of the army painter dip, especially as I try and finish my HUGE backlog of mini's....which for some reason never seems to shrink :). I certainly do not recommend it for every paint scheme but it certainly handles shading well enough.
I also remembered that I added a drop of glazing medium to my rider(s) of the dead wash, which is supposed to help get rid of surface tension and appears to have worked a little too well, to me at least.

I might have to get myself some of the grass, it looks nice. I should probably look into testing some of these dips out too, they seem to work wonders on everyones minis I've seen that use it.

Long overdue updates since I painted the drake in the competition last month.
here is the plastic mordor troll. Every other one I have is metal and they are all painted differently ha ha.
base colors for the skin and cloth are done and I am working on the bumps. then I will move onto the cloth and leather.

Then we have the Shadow Lord. basic black paint job with some blue wash on the armor. Brown horse.

And what is on the desk...hey, haven't those horses been there a long time Jobu? yes, yes they have...........

Nice neat base coating. Also, your ghosts that you posted whilst I was on holiday are great.

Looking very nice! Especially the morannons, I think its time I got some quickshade myself.

Also, about the frosted models: this thread should help: Fixing Dullcote frost!

Cheers :)

Update on troll, man I have been on a roll in the painting department. Just started glorfindel, primed a bunch of Rohan guys converted two more high elfs and three more orcs.

I may go back and add more shading on the skin and cloth, have not touched the leather yet.
See those bubbles? That is what happens when one primes with gesso and it is too thick. Check out the challenge to see glorfindel primed with gesso correctly.

There's a bit of smudging at the top of his armour, but I'm sure you will sort that out, and it is already comning along quite nicely :D
