@Oldman Willow, thanks for the thought. I knew Mithril minis made a Beruthiel, but not that they sold things on ebay. I believe that it is a larger scale though, and in any event, sitting on a throne, though a very realistic pose for a villianous monarch to be in, doesn't make a great pose at the forefront of a formation of Black Numenoreans / Easterlings / Khandish / Haradrim. If they have a picture of a painted version somewhere, I'd like to see how she is tackled. :)

@samoht, thanks very much.

One or two of these reaper figures may be on the large size as well.

Assuming it was the right size, the 3rd one looks ok, if you removed the fan. Though I think the only non-GW minis I would ever use for her, would be Cersei Lannister or Melissandre of Ashai, both from the company that makes models of George R R Martin's characters, which are realistic-lookin, and nicely posed imo. But alas :( it is too late noew anway, I have already started with the Galadriel. Oh, and another thanks to Dwarfendale for the cats 8)

The first three photos are upon completion of stage one: the basecoating on all areas, including the base. The other three are the stage after that, which is mostly a drybrushing stage, except on the skin, which used a layer instead. So without further ado, I will demonstrate my suberb photography skills using an absolutely amazing camera (if you haven't caught the sarcasm, it probably because you haven't seen my WIP before:

Now, you may have to take your word for it, but, with the exception of the unpainted base rim, there are no flat colours, yes, even the skin and white hair/fur has been gone over;

My next stage, after checking I haven't missed a bit, is to do the washes, and then after that I can apply highlights and details.

You really want a tripod for this sort of work. I use this one:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Dynex-Black-Fle ... 1016359488

And you need to use your camera's macro setting.

I do use the camera's macro setting, you should see the pics on page 1 that don't. With the execption of the shots of just the cats, these pics are pretty good, and I didn't put an effort into getting decent pics of the cats on their own, what I need is somone to come up and see how I do it, and help sort it out.

As garmenhorse says, it is darksword minis, but they are only depicted as from the actual books descriptions, nothing to do with the TV series, although the Varys model does look strikingly similar.

Wow!
i just had a look at page 1 and they are rubbish pics! :-D :-D
the one at the bottom isnt so bad though, perhaps you could try some more like that and then crop them.
what kind of camera are you using?

Aye, they'e fuzzier than a furbie, I've noticed the one at the bottom of the page, and a few others within my WIP too, are decent enough, but I haven't a clue what it is that makes some pics better than others.

I'mnot sure what type of camera it is, I will get back to you on that, if you think there might be a better one.

I reckon your camera has a few problems with focusing on really macro stuff
even with a macro setting it can only go so far
why not try taking lots of pics at all different ranges and see which one comes out best?

The camera is a 'Hitachi HDC-99IE'. Hmmm, I am not sure, but I think you could be right, that and 'shaking arm syndrome' which only ever happens when holding a camera. I've tried a few different angles and lengths etc.

@Erurainon, lol is what I thought when I wrote it :)

The pictures below are after completing the washes stage, although I still need to work on Beruthiel's dark robes, now I've taken quite a few pictures to see which come off best. There are even worse ones that I haven't uploaded, I've just but the better ones on here. As well as commenting on the painting, feel free to (continue to!) comment on the photography. I've posted more than one picture of the same angle to comapre the better pictures:

Tanks for all the comments. Still many highlights, extra details and touch-ups to go :)
