Bought some grimhammers the other day and decided that I would convert them to warriors of erebor. so basically, away with the 2H weapon and add shields.

Image

Picture is a tad dark, better pictures when I take some. Most were really easy, just a shortening of the weapon and re-position the hand. The shields I picked up off of ebay for pennies.

Darnit, you got there before me!

Looking good though, the shields are a pretty decent size & fit.

Any idea how you'll be painting them up?

1 Erebor/ Grimhammer dwarf thingy done :D including a scenic base. Found some decent resin ones on ebay so I bought a load of those and will base the whole army on them.

Image

It seems there is a bit of white tac on the front of the shield where I had it stuck down to paint the back

Interesting. i was wondering about the conversion potential of these guys just the other day. I'll be keeping an eye out to see what you cook up.

Clever conversions SD. Look great! Think the rock in the last picture could do with a light white drybrush on the sharp edges just to give it a little more contrast. Just a suggestion mate.

Good work, look good.
Something I do when painting a figure with lot of metal armour is to choose a contrasting beard colour to break the figure up, grey looks very similar to silver, going for a brown, black, blonde, etc helps.
Great work all the same.

11 Grimhammers/ Erebor Dwarves complete :D the 12th one I'm not so fussed about as he is akwardly posed for a shield + hand wep guy. Sure I'll get him done eventually.
Image

Better photos when the sun next shines and hopefully soon the conclusion to my tale of 4 gamers army and the next warband in my erebor army (12 dwarves w/ spear and shield)

Great stuff SD, really lovely job! Nice to see some conversions with the new figures.

Might they be taking to the field of battle in a couple of weeks?!?! Be nice to see them in the flesh!

Cheers Dr G. Possibly, depends on how quickly I can get the funds to get another 3 boxes + the extras I need to convert them. Probably looking at the Titans tournament as their first competitive outing (realistically).
