That's one awesome viking/Thrydan, and a very lifelike boar. I've often seen excellent sculptors make extremely silly mistakes when it comes to sculpting animals, but that's one trap you haven't fallen for. My compliments.

Thank you very much for all your lovely comments!

I don't know whether I've already posted it here, but you can find a (German) sculpting tutorial for the boar in this issue of the Skirmisher. I hope the pictures say enough, if anyone has a question just pop me a PM.

Here is a tiny progress of a new figure, I hope you like it:

I am not sure where I should put his sword. What do you think?

C&C are most welcome!

Another great looking sculpt Bennett. I like the way it already gives the floating impression. The spear / sword n the left hand looks better - top picture of the two.

Quite funny, I've only heard one other opinion so far and that's exactly the other way round...

Thanks for your comment and after your PN yesterday I might have changed my mind regarding .... you know what I mean.

Here's todays progress: Before anyone asks about the brown head I only say micro wave and very, very, very bad idea.. That's also the reason for the rough armour...

Who knows what the shoulder pad is going to be? Right now only one half is finished.

Some more opinions would be highly recommended, also on the sword please!

Best wishes,
Bennet

Barrow Wight is looking very promising indeed. I look forward to seeing the finished product :)

Awesome sculpting, once again! I'm sure he's going to be beautifully menacing! :yay:

I would put his sword in his right hand, and make it follow the line of his arm (tilted from the position in photo 2). Much like how Fellowship Gandalf is holding his sword, I mean.

The shoulder pads also look magnificent! The amount of details is staggering! As for the left shoulder pad, I would go for something similar, or no shoulder pad at all.

Great job, looking forward to see more!

Shaping up wonderfully!

I'm with Gandlaf on the sword positioning. Having it in the right hand suggests potential movement, and is a more dynamic and interesting pose I think.

Shoulder pad looking really cool.

Thank you very much all! 8)

I will probably put the sword in his left hand, because there is already a barrow wight from GW in a similar pose to version 1. I just need to be able to sculpt a hand with every finger seperate, and this is really a pain...

If it is allowed I'd like to drive your attention to this topic:http://one-ring.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=42&t=29284

We decided to translate the Skirmisher on our own now. But as nobody of us speaks English as his mother language, we'd need some people looking through the magazine and erasing mistakes. Thank you very much in advance!

Cheers,
Bennet

Can't wait to see this finished. Do you cast them in metal when they're done?

Thank you very much!

No, I don't think I'll cast them in metal. You need 16 models to use a metal casting mould completely. Apart from that I don't think it's worth the effort.

Today I sculpted some heads for a step-by-step tutorial for the Skirmisher. If you want to read it in English as well --> we still need some people who could correct the English magazine... For further details see my previous post.

The proportions and expression look really nice! But the surface looks quite rough at the moment. Is it a putty that hardens inthe oven? His left eyelids are a bit to big compared to the ones on the right.

Nonetheless a great sculpt and you have improved again!

Cheers, Marc

Thanks a lot everyone! Yes Marc, the putty is fimo. Well spotted!

And now, Ladys and Gentlemen, for something completely different...

I hope it is alright if I post it here, if not I'll remove it.
A few days ago I started my very own Bolg version. And I made a sculpting tutorial for how to sculpt arms. I actually made the tutorial with my very own bolg as the miniature in there...

It is my first ever video, my first video tutorial and my first English video tutorial. My pronounciation and grammar is, looking back, really bad and so is the quality of the video. Nevertheless I hope that it is helpful for the one or the other and would appreciate every comment and critizism. Thanks a lot!

Best wishes,
Bennet
