Hello everyone!

During the last 12 months I have been working on some Middle Earth miniatures. I have just discovered this forum, so I wanted to share some of my work with you

Rivendell swordsmen
- The model that was painted in last fall, and is still my number one! I have done some experiments on him, but still he is the best mini I've painted so far.

Arwen
- She was my test model and I was quite surprised that this painjob only took 4 hours.

The cloak detail is superb. Blood detail is always fun

It's always fun to see models in non-traditional colours. These are both very well done.

@draked Yes the blood is a cool detail, except it should have been black

@GreatKhanArtist In most cases I tend to paint in a bit alternative color scheme. We have all seen models painted in a certain scheme a million times. Add a little variation and it is your own creation

Anyway, here is a group of lovely old metal Galadhrim warriors. They went on a little trip across the ocean, as their new proud owner lives in Canada

You probably get it that I love elves and not to make this an elf-only painting topic, here is my first serious try of painting black on a model.

Basicly careful mixing of paints and adding a few extra layers of blends gets the job done. Also, mixing bone color instead of white into black got me a good result.

The robes look really nice on the wraith! I think it is hard to judge how much you should highlight black but what you've done here looks perfect. The basing is also nice and I like the idea of a wraith in snow

The one area you might be able to touch up a bit further if you want is the sword. I can't tell if the sword is NMM or TMM but it looks like it could use a bit more contrast/highlights to make it stand out as much as the robes do. Excellent work all around and I'm looking forward to more updates!

@Kuribo Thanks for the comment! Will make sure to add more depth on the sword.

But, more High Elves...

This is the unit I used to make an experiment with bow strings. I used the fine sawing thread.

The elves look great and I think the extra effort of bowstrings really paid off as they look more realistic with it. Great job, Resurrection!

Some really nice painting all around. Though I can’t help thinking that the wraith is practicing some balancing karate move like the karate kid. But maybe that’s just an affect of the snow on the base.

Really nice colour theme with the cold colours. I like the highlights on the "skirts". It truely looks like shiny silk. Not quite sure what I think about the thread though. The thread does look a little too thick. What kind of thread is it? In any case, it is an admirable effort! Better than stringless bows, for sure.

@Rognarr Thanks, as I said in one of the previous comments, I like painting things 'the unusual way' >D
@Alhvar Thanks, means a lot to get good critiques. THe thread used on the strings is a regular sawing thread. I will try thinner thread next time.

Anyway, time for the new model

This is a Barrow wight that I have been using in my games as the King of the Dead. He was one of the quickest character level models I have painted (as part of the test 'How quickly can I paint a model'). The base is courtesy of my wife <3

Quickest? You must be very effective at painting. :O

The base is like having a golden cherry on top. I think this is one of the better representations of gas I have ever seen. I think the colours on the model work very well too. The armour looks great. The only room for improvement I could see at all would be that the highlights on the 'dress' could have been a little more smooth. But then again, if you speed painted this the results are truely amazing.

I'm really enjoying that base which is saying a lot as I don't usually like that kind of thing. That armor looks really great and old, perfectly tarnished. I agree with Alhvar that the cloak could use some smoother highlights, but honestly harsh highlights like that can kinda work. Almost makes it look like it's glowing in a way. It's definitely super impressive for a speed painted model though.

@Alhvar Thank you for all those kind words. The highlights on the cloak are a bit harsher for the speed of it (I was opting to go under an hour for this model, and ended spending like 75 minutes). With the base, my wife got a little crazy with it and wanted to make it look more cartoonish, but it ended up exceeding my expectations.

@Wayfarer Also big thanks for the comment. Basically what I said above, plus the armor was just a serious of washes and drybrushes so ended up looking like that in less than 15 minutes.
