Hello,

I'm not a very skilled painter, and all tips are welcome.

I'm currently busy on one of Haldir's Elves, and I'm planning to entry a local painting competition with this model.
It's almost finished, apart from the bow, his left hand and some other details.
I was wondering if anybody has some tips or suggestions.

From what I can see, I like it a lot! The metals seem to be nice, aswell as the highlights on the cape and red tunic.

The pics are a bit dark though, which makes it hard to find anything to give tips about.

Great base!

Goodluck in the competition!

I agree this looks really nice. 8) I am not an experienced painter either so my advice might not be worth much. However, I think the cape could do with more contrast. It is hard to see with dark photos, but it seems more defined highlights on the front and especially the back of the cape would look good? The contrast on the red cloth at the front looks really good. The metal looks ace also - and the detail is great. Maybe the metal at the front - particularly the body armour could be highlighted a bit more - and assume a light source from a particular direction. Sorry, I don't know the technical jargon. The base looks really nice.

Good luck with the comp - let us know how you went.

Looks really nice, especially like the armour (particualry on the arm) looks cool. But its hard to give any suggestions really with the dark pictures.

He looks very nice. You've done a great job with the metals. The face is still too dark in the picture to comment on though. Good luck in the competition.

I won second place in the competition. I'll soon post some pictures of my Gondor army on which I'm currently working.

As you might have read I'll be painting the mounted Glorfindel model to enter a painting competition.
The theme of the competition is "The Arcane and the Magical", and I think Glorfindel fits this theme very well.

Here are some pics of the primed model, I'll see if I can paint a bit on him tonight :)

Nice use of a rock on the base, looking forward to seeing this progress as it's a great mini :)

Hey,
This is the last update for today, I hope you like it.
The pics aren't good quality, but I hope you can see it well enough

It found out this is a really enjoyable miniature to paint! Really nice and detailed sculpt.

Thanks for all your reactions! It's really appreciated. :)

The next thing to do will be the cloak. The details and the face will have to wait until I get a new brush, the one I now have is getting old.

By the way, has anybody some tips on painting white horses?

The thing i did with a white horse was to begin with grey but a bit watered down, and then build your layers with highlights included. When you keep a thin paint it won't ruin as much details or look to clumpy! Hope that helps!
