Hey guys/gals this is my first fountain court guard and I have to say I was pretty pleased with him until I looked at the up close pics and saw a bunch of stuff wrong.lol.damn megapixels took my buzz out. Anyway I LOVE the model itself and plan to add a few more. This was my first time thinning down my white paint and I was extremely pleased with the results. I just need more practice thinning but will definitely be doing that with all my minis from now on. Anyway C/C is very welcome let me know what you think!

I think it looks great.. yes there's a few places that can be improved but there's always room for improvement for anyone. Looks rather similar to my first try on the Fountain Guards.. absolutely loved that model. Keep up the good work! & hope to see more pics coming.

Nice work, especially for a first figure. I'd recommend thinning some grey paint down and giving the white feathers on the helm and also the robs a light wash to pick out the folds and the spaces between the feathers.

Keep us updated!

This is a very good first figure. Nice work. Yeah, you'll see a lot of stuff in close up photos that will never be visible on the tabletop. If you're looking for good tabletop quaility, you're very nearly there already. I will echo some of the other posters--a couple of easy things to fix that will make a difference: highlight the chainmail of the skirt with a little mithril silver, and do the same ting with the symbol on the chestplate. Add a few gray shadows to the feathers on the helm. You could even do this last with a little badab black wash or just a watered down chaos black. And add some dark flesh at the tops and bottoms of the eyes to make them smaller. Nice work overall. Keep it up

Thanks everyone! Yes I am not very good at eyes and just cant seem to get the straight dot size I want. Any tips on that as well? Also on the feather I was wondering how to bring out the seperation on the feathers but thought to use some dry brushing or such. Is gray really the best color to use? Once again thanks guys!

I would use a grey rather than black since you just want to define the seperate feathers, rather than seperate them as black would do. A very thin black wash might work, but again I'd go with grey because it's a softer colour, and we're talking about feathers.

Don't start with dry brushing. Give the feathers a wash with thinned down chaos black or a base coat of codex grey. Then pick out the feathers with white, dry brushing or highlighting.

The Armour looks very good but the eyes and face need some improvement. Maybe use a smaller brush??

Hmmmmm I cant exactly remember the brand of brushes I use but I do know they last a long time and are very good. Plus the hobby lobby where I live almost always has them on sale. Im gona try and do some tidying up next wkend. Im gona try the wash on the feathers and highlighting the armor tree. Ill update this with more pics as soon as I've done all that. Right now Im gona be busy helping my fiance paint some wood elves in "pretty" colors.lol. Thanks again you all!
