Hey all, Really quick question I wanted to run by you. Over the weekend a mate of mine and I decided for fun to test out a small force of Nazgul on horseback, (400pts or so), to see how they'd do. The list was something like: Knight of Umbar Undying Shadow Lord all on a mix of horses and armoured horses They were up against a rohan list of around 25 guys or so, and surprisingly managed to take out close to half of them before going down, despite 2 of them being unhorsed, banner support on the rohirrim, and being bogged down for several successive turns in combat. So this got me wondering... for small games, do you reckon Nazgul on horseback can work? Or if not be a totally OP force, then certainly give players a run for their money? How would you construct such a list? How would you play it? Would be interested to get your thoughts. Ta! |

Well I guess it depends on the particular Nazgyl chosen. I see Dark Marshal, Khamul and Undying being the three candidates for ditching out damage (maybe a Shadow Lord instead of the DM) as opposed to your list whit the KoU whom from what I can tell is more of a hero killer and his special rule becoms kinda wasted against normal warriors, especially Rohan Warriors (Khamul is more suited for killing multiple single wound warriors). Then again if their horses die (which they will fairly shortly without adequate protection) the Nazgyl lose the much needed mobility and combat ability (+1 on charge etc.). Not much experience using Fell Beasts but from what I can tell from the rules if used correctly the FBs could be devastating against armies. e.g. Khamul on FB + Undying on FB + a budget wraith on horse? (405 pts in total i think) I think the best bet would be either way to get the opposing army down to 50% as fast as possible without losing mobility in the end and backing out, as generic warriors should start fleeing fairly fast. |

No its not a feasible force if youre playing tournament level players anywhere honestly..... I can only imagine how easy it would be to win a game with almost every army let alone all mounted rohan if my opponent only had a couple wraiths on horseback. |

This is a good read. I think everyone who reads must get the good knowledge from it. |
