I'm mostly concerned with tough to kill not hard to play against. Please mention good and evil.

Just curious aout everyone's experiences and playing styles.

Obviously enough it's Treebeard for me and Imrahil.
As for evil probably wraiths on fell beasts or heavy monsters.

Dwarf heroes are pretty rough D8 is tough to crack.
Rumil is hard to kill due to his parry ability.
And for shadow, my bane is monsters, always monsters. To include nazgul on fell beasts

I agree with jdizzy001 about dwarf heroes. With no magic or monsters to counter them, they are really good. I played once with Gimli against a horde of WoMT who surrounded him, but he remained unharmed ;)
Another day, my Dain ate a lot of elves before being slain by Gil-Galad and his friends. I was surprised that Dain survived at least 3 turns against Aeglos :p
With Rend, however, monsters became a real pain ^^

Durin is just a pain to kill, as is Thror if he happens to roll pretty well for his Fate. Sauron obviously is pretty much the most hard to kill model, what with his mightable Ring roll and D10.

Lmao at dude.

Ok some good answers. Dwarves are definitely hard but having played against them so much and with my style of army I usually fare well.
I use a lot of monsters and hero monsters. In addition I use a lot of magic and fell beasts.

Dwarves are pretty garbage against magic.

Speaking of Gil Galad he's just a huge pain to me as well....the fight value is huge. If you don't take him off his horse early he's gonna kill his cost in models.....

I'd say though from an inside out perspective I've very rarely had my Thorin killed or in danger.

I can only remember him dying once honestly mostly becUse of poor rolling but he was facing some of the best heroes of the game. And treebeard got a lucky rock off and smoked his Pony really early.

But otherwise Thorin is the man..... once I use Alfred to boost him to 6 might and he stood against Sauron himself for 3-4 turns before Sauron retreated to another part of the battlefield.

Radagast and Legolas for me, they're always too well hidden to be killed

Legolas is indeed tough. That crazy sniper elf.

The Undying... 25 Fate points, and the capability to reacquire more.

20 will points, that can be used as fate. It's hard to put down.
Thankfully, I use Floi a lot.

Dikey, I never thought of that, what a great use of Floi's negating ability.

Commissar Yarrick

Oh wait, wrong system. Yeah, I'll hop on the Undying/Sauron band-wagon. Oh and Grima Wormtongue / Gollum when their criteria hasn't been met.

I think Grima rules should be revised. I mean, Grima cannot be hit or shot, but is alright to use Black Dart, Sourcerous blast and throw? By analogy, I think that those should also be banned. I know that this would make killing him more difficult, but I think is closer to the original spirit of the rule.
On the other hand, the Grima and Saruman combo is nearly 200 points alone, I hardly see them coming at less than 800 points games. At those points, you are almost guaranteed to find monsters and casters that would get rid of Grima in one or two turn.

I think good models would have problems when dealing with Smaug. Evil has access "istant killers" (dragons, morgul blade, even the necromancer) that can might their special kill move up to score the wound and kill him for good, while good models have to go the hard way.

Then, Sauron is Sauron. It wouldn't be Sauron if it were easy to kill.

I always struggle to get rid of Gil-Galad.

I faced Sauron for the first time recently and he really doesn’t die easily, even though surrounded and often losing the combat and being trapped.

What points do you normally play against Beorn at? and what army do you play?

I second that. Between his fight value, armored horse, armor etc I always have an issue. I think I killed him once easily and every other time is a tough order to handle.

Goblin King! I have never wounded this guy. Blubbery mass, fate and usually Fury saves what the hell. Boromir charging on horse with lance couldn't get a wound on this guy (may have been a bit of bad luck).

How do you take this guy down?
