So I've just bought the Mordor sourcebook and have found myself a serious likening to the Ringwraiths! Which is your favourite Ringwraith and/or which one would you use as a Army leader?

Leader: The Witch-king of the Knight of Umbar, the Undying, Khamul

Favourite: The Dwimmerlaik, The Witch-king, The Undying

Never, ever, and I mean never, even think of using the Tainted. He is awful.

Ha yes I have heard he is the worst but it's a shame he looks so damn awesome!

It is a great model, one of the best of the named Wraiths, and okay in WotR as long as you play Angmar, but in SBG, GW would rather sell you a stupid looking model like the Dark Marshal or the Knight of Umbar.

I have to disagree with you on that point I find the knight of umbar to be another of the better models for the named wraiths along with the dwimmerlaik, the tainted, the witch king and the undying! However every man to himself and I will definetly agree that the Dark Marshall is one of, if not the worst looking wraith!

Khamul is my favorite and he's the best

I believe khamul has a special rule allowing him to regain a will point every time he causes a wound meaning he can stay in combat longest but isn't necessarily the best wraith!

He is the best. Mount him on Fell-beast and no other Wraith can match his killing power. Plus he gets bonus point in my book for not being a GW creation like the other 7

The Undying could potentially outoast him if you had a large amount of spellcasters, and the Knight of Umbar is fine too as long as you keep winning fights and fight some bigger heroes. They both have a better base Will amount, and one of them can regain like Khamul. I wouldn't say they're as reliable though, because they aren't 9 this is Khamul's only area of expertise

Of course if you want a Ringwraith on foot, you should never take Khamul though, he sucks as much as the Tainted on foot.

I'm sure the witch king or the knight of Umbar on fell beasts could match his killing power! What makes you so sure he is the ultimate wraith?

Actually I know people say that but I have had great success with him on horse and foot. I typically use his ability to boost his number of attacks to 2 (when on foot), so he can recover his will easily enough

What ability is this I think I must have missed it!

It's the second half of his essence leach ability. He can expend a point of will to increase his attacks, strength or FV by 1

I like the way the betrayer looks something about his outfit. Khamul is cool but his pose isn't the best. If I took one though it would be Khamul.

Leader: Witch King (obviously... He's the Witch King!) or Dark Marshal. His banner ability really makes him seem to be leading (through terror).

Favourites: Dwimmerlaik. He isn't really somebody I picture as leading the force, and his lack of Might supports that, but he is my favorite. He is a good spell caster with a bunch of Will and one of the most fun/jerk abilities! I also love the Witch King and Dark Marshal (which is why I bought them).

I hear Kamul on a fell beast is a murder machine but I have yet to try him out.

I really like the Tainted's model, very sinister and sick. I actually want to like him. His ability isn't good at all, but I love the idea behind it. If they made the ability a bit better I would absolutely pick him up. The idea (as well as Dwimmerlaik's) plays into my idea of fighting in Middle Earth. Never fight fair, if you aren't cheating you seen trying hard enough. Of course, by cheating I mean legit use of Transfix and Sap Will (I want my list to "cheat" but I want to be very up front and honest as a player). I want to win by bringing you down rather than being stronger myself!

I'd use the Undying as a leader- does what it says on the tin.
And my favourite Wraith is either the Knight of Umbar or the Dwimmerlaik or the Undying.

Even on horse, Khamul can be very potent. On foot he is a lot more tricky to work with. If you do not use his extra ability to boost a base stat you can often break even when dealing with basic warriors. But you won't always cause a Wound so on foot you will weaken over time. On horse you are far more likely to cause a Wound with the double strikes / knocked to the ground bonuses so if you can do the math and boost something (Strength is a favorite) more often. On a Fell Beast you have multiple advantages already and can often keep your Will pool high even with boosting more often.

And I agree with the above that extra 'points' go to this choice as being one of only two specific Nazgul identified in Tolkien's work. They are the only two I really ever play unless I'm getting into some over-competitive issues.

Thanks for reminding me of that rule James! I can now see why he is a killing machine with a possible 4 attacks while on a fell beast! I have to say for me any of the normal wraiths on fell beasts or the witch king (full stats) with a horse or fell beast is enough to lead an army. However my fav wraith for looks is the dwimmerlaik simply because of his dark and evil nature!

No problem, also the option to boost the strength is epic when youre on a Horned Fell Beasty, Strength 8? Yes Sir! Even the Dwarves beware! lol

*cough*Khamûlcan'tusehisWilltoboosthisFellBeast'sstats*cough*

*cough*Q: Can Khamûl the Easterlingʼs Essence Leech be used in
conjunction with his Fell Beastʼs Attacks and Strength
characteristics? (p21)
A: Khamûl may expend a single point of Will to increase
his own Strength, Fight or Attacks value, not those of his
Fell Beast. However, he will recover a point of Will for
each Wound caused, even if he did so with the aid of his
Fell Beastʼs characteristics.*ahem*
