Hey guys, so I'm eyeballing these Perry ECW full-armored men at arms with halberds and I've always kinda liked how the Axemen of Lossarnach look on paper. But are they worth it on the table? Being able to alternate between a two-hander and a spear seems quite useful as they can support, say, Dol Amroth knights or Clansmen (Also something I'm not sure I'd use) and put some hurt on bigger baddies in groups.

But yeah that's on paper. Anyone used or fought these guys and thought they were special or something that was relatively easy to roll over?

I think a warband of them could support fiefdoms or even Minas Tirith, and add punching power on their own. I have not battle-tested them, but I think they are a viable option.

They are good solid reliable troops. The two handed option is really worth it when putting the boot in to out numbered or surrounded enemies.

Yeah, they offer Gondor some flexibility which it sorely needs in its' foot troops. I know you're not using them, but I really love the GW models for the Axemen.

I am with Lord Hurin on this, they look good and are tournament acceptable. I would buy them before they go OOP forever!

I have a warband of them, and they look freaking cool. All three poses are well done. Have to take some pic's for my gallery sometime. I bought them for the flexibility. That, and it's nice to have a variety of troops for MT.

How about just using WoMT figures with the halberds/ arms from the Perry figures?

Setting aside how cool the figures are, all the fiefdoms look like completely different armies from each other. There is no "Gondor" look across them.

Hmmm I will have to pick up a box of the Perry's and give that a try now.

I am not sure that's true, the Axemen of Lassarnach and the Clansmen of Lamedon all have the same breast plates as Warriors of Minas Tirith, and the black root archers are identical to Rangers of Gondor.
