I just played a 1,000 pts. match with high elves, I was smashed to bits. I don't know what to do! Maybe I blundered a bit here and there and I did have some pretty terrible dice rolls. But I think one of the main reasons I lost was because I had so few troops. IMO high elves are ridiculously priced, fight value is handy not amazing and the high courage is very good, pathfinders and terror are also good but I still think they're not worth the points partly because of the *word deleted* strength and defence values (generally they're not too bad but for a company that costs 55pts. a piece, that is appaling). I'm not really sure what to do as I fear that this will keep on happening.

high elf regiments defence reeaaalllllyy let them down. either take an epic hero with epic defence, elf cohorts, or just use galadhrim with shields instead.

also, if i remember correctly, their are spells to increase strength (although i think thats only with saruman) or reduce enemy strength.

I was expecting this post...

(I was the one who smashed him  )

agincourt777 mentioned the spell that reduces Strength, this would probably be quite effective.

This might be the wrong forum... which is odd because I am sure I saw this thread in the WotR forum yesterday.

Shut up George, you were the one who came up with all this mumbo-jumbo about turning your formations round for no movement cost.

Ah, but I was right. It's a new rule and was the first thing stated in the FAQ. :P

Seriously, some of these rules in WotR seem like they were invented by a mentally-challenged moron. How the heck are you supposed to rear-attack someone if you go first!?

Get two formations and charge him from the front and back?

It still requires to much to work effectively.

Yes, but that's only if you have a one-of-a-kind monster worth 250pts and in a lot of games you won't be using Glorfindel.

First of all, I'd always take him :)

secondly, eagles can do this as well, and since if you march through them with army of the dead, the dead can turn as well, they are also viable :)

Rly? I guess he's worth his points, though, I find I don't want to use very many points on heroes in 1,000 pts. or so when playing elves as the base troops cost so much.
