In Battle Companies is it possible for an evil model carrying a war drum (classed as a heavy object) to also carry a spear - the intention being to support in combat. I know that (BC Manual) that each model is allowed to carry one heavy and one light object - but I can't seem to find anything in the BC Manual or the Rules Manual that says yay or nay that a model can carry the drum and a spear. I also know that if charged a model holding a war drum has -1 on its Duel roll. Any help in answering this would be much appreciated - and please provide a reference to the rules manual or a FAQ from GW. I'm in the process of converting an Orc to carry a drum (made from an Uruk-hai bomb) and want to add a spear to it - but if the rules won't allow it I'll need to re-think how I make the model. TIA for your help. Kalatha (Paul) |

The battle companies book lists wargear (pg 18) and equipment (pg 20) separately. A model is given the ability to acquire both wargear and equipment. I can not find anything that forbids a model to have both a spear (wargear) and a drum (equipment), provided that that model meets the requirements to have each item individually. Therefore, a model that can have each item individually can have both items together. |

Hi Wan Shi Tong - thank you for your reply. On reading through the BC and Rules Manuals I reached the same conclusion that you have - but I wanted to be sure. The only thing that had me thinking otherwise was the profile of the Orc Drummer on page 118 of the Armies Manual which lists his wargear as a dagger and drum. So modelled with a spear he will be.
