The new rules have some.... Interesting things to them. Some stuff that seems obvious. Other things very nitpicky that the wrong type of player clearly has influenced. One rule absolutely ridiculous. I'm already house ruling it out of our league. https://postimage.org/ Terrible rule. Why in the world would anyone ever allow an opponent to chose where their soldier is shooting? Is this mind controlled magic? Wow. Tell me about your opinions on the new stuff. |

Looks like they've chosen the worst way possible to solve this issue. Me and my friends just assume that the archer is not incompetent and will shoot over those two goblins to hit the cave troll. But a Uruk might obscure LoS to hit that same Troll. |

That's a really odd ruling. What could the thematic purpose be? The wind? |

This almost has to have come from a certain group of players talking to GW themselves. I remember debates about this in the past and they are ridiculous. We can all figure out as adults that an archer will shoot at something with the path of least resistance. If there is a tree on one side or a friendly on it they are 100℅ going to choose the other place. I blame players in the community who try to bend the rules to their favor. |

I don't even understand this. Has line of sight always been a thing there could be more than one of? It doesn't jive with the way I've always been doing it, even in other games. Vision is a single cone and the target is a coelom which intercepts it, everything within the cone when it contacts the coelom must be accounted for when shooting. Does this mean you can't hide a troll behind a goblin now because their are direct paths of flight for the arrow which do not cross the goblin? |

It's got to be in response to the Radagast on Sleigh discussion from a while back. This rule has no thematic reasoning IMO, it's merely trying to establish the most fair ruling on a very strange situation. |

jdizzy001 wrote: I don't understand this ruling, can someone please break it down? An example of where this rule comes into play. There is a cave troll with three goblins in front of him. One on the left, and two stacked behind each other on the right. How many in the ways? Is it 3, one for each object in the way, or do you get to choose the path of the arrow, and thus it is either one, if you shoot to the left, or two, if the shot goes to the right. They have ruled that it is not 3 in the way rolls, and this is logical as an arrow would only have one path. However this brings up the question of who gets to choose the path of the arrow, and thus who is in the way. As written, you roll a 50/50 dice, and whoever wins gets to choose the path of the arrow. T...r...o..l...l goblin ........goblin ........goblin ...archer Now, as far as my opinion on this ruling, I do agree that it seems a bit "off". It seems to me that you should roll for every unit or object in the way (though that would make it nearly impossible to shoot some larger creatures like dragons who could literally have 20+ models in the way) OR, just allow the person shooting to decide where they are shooting, and thus what is in the way. While it makes more sense to me to have the shooter decide where they are shooting, this is a rule that affects both players, so it is something that you'll just have to add to your tactical tool belt and work around/with. In the end it seems like it unnecessarily slows down and complicates the game. |

Okay, so does this mean that this check could be used if the goblin closest to the troll was absent and the choice was between a path which was clear of obstruction and one which was not? An in the way test to avoid taking an in the way test as it were. If bases are not touching can we now check to shoot between two models to get to one behind, and if we fail then take a test to see if we get past those same models again? How does this work with the vertical height on terrain? Can I shoot a trolls head, pass this new check, and not have to check for say a wall by his waist now? |

Nope - read the second last sentence - "Note if there are models in the way, then a path *must* be selected that goes through at least one model." In other words a lot of text which doesn't resolve the absurdity of not being able to shoot Smaug or a Mumak if even one good model is between the shooter and any part of the target. |

That looks like the second to last sentence to me but, yes, it does seem very pointless. |

When it comes down to it guys, I'm disgusted that they've literally given control of our units to opponents by roll of random dice. This isn't games workshops fault alone though. It's the players. Someone out there has made and abused a dumb argument just to find a way to be more competitive. Nobody in the universe has an answer to why an archer would shoot through a path of more resistance when give an equal option. The answer is power gamers. |
