Post subject:  Resist Nature's Wrath?

I was participating in a small tournament recently here in Chicago.
My opponent Nature's Wrath my Warband down a couple times.
He advised that it was not possible to use Will to resist with my Hero.
He is well versed with his force of Elves, and I did not argue it.
I shielded my Warriors of Minas Tirth and damage was minimal.
But the game was slow, and I scored a victory of 2-0 VP's.

Is this ruling correct?

No way!
A hero can use his will points to resist it, as usual.

Was he using Thranduil to cast it ? He may be confused, as Thranduil does "auto-cast" Nature's Wrath - i.e, he doesn't need to roll any dice to cast it - and the rule states that the cast counts as though it was a 6 that was rolled. At that point, your hero can definitely attempt to resist, needing a 6 to do so....

Lee.......holy **** this is what happens when I dont show up to an event? Lmao......should have asked someone.

Thranduils natures wrath is auto cast rolling as if it were a 6. You can resist with any heroes as long as you roll a 6 to stop it. Your opponent was apparently not that well versed ;) as Ive told him myself multiple times(and done it) that he can be resisted.

This is good to know. I didn't know thranduril's auto cast nature's wrath could be resisted. Learn something every day.

Still have to be within 6" and roll a 6, but yes. At least that's what I've seen. That's how I've played it. I asked about it before because I had to play against Thranduil every week or at least few weeks for nearly a year.

I really like the old thranduil. Wood elves with a 2+ accuracy and an auto cast nature's wrath. Yes please!

Autocast did not mean successful spell though. Still, resisting a 6 is hard.

Very true

Indeed, a friend of mine used to be convinced of the same thing: "auto-cast=impossible to resist"
Luckily the local Gw shop manager was able to convince him that he was.... Well, pretty wrong to say the least

Guys it's not terribly hard to resist. It comes down to planning and luck sure....

I've done it multiple times. Once I had Shagrat, war leader within the bubble and rolled all his will. Got a 6.
Resisted with a ringwraith before. Also a lucky Hobbit who had resistant to magic in a tournament game at Nova hahaha.

Since thranduil is in the mirkwood and lothlorien list, I often found him coupled with Galadriel, who either commands the hero away or force him to spend will.

Yeah that happens a lot. Depends on points level. If the points are low enough they can't afford both. If it's high enough I have a ringwraith to SAP will. Don't forget Thranduil can't do anything without will.

I thought Thranduil could cast his spells without will :o "Aura Of Dismay" is Exhaustion, which is useless without will, but not "Nature's Wrath" :o

ya he can still use natures wrath with out will.

I've been told otherwise. But regardless yes Aura of Dismay cannot be used.
