I know in the blue rule book it states that spear support arent participating in combat. I interpret that to mean that they are eligible archery targets and would not invoke an ITW save. With the new rules i'm not clear. Has there been an errata or anything? Under the hobbit rules, can an archer fire at a supporting spear model without invoking an ITW save?

Yep, both Good and Evil models can shoot at models supporting with spears, it's in the Hobbit rulebook FAQ.

Assuming that there is a completely clear line of sight. If there isn't then you would have the normal rules, good can't do it at all and evil needs an in the way. If you have full LOS, then shoot to your heart's content. It makes flanking forces of archers pretty good.
