Just to confirm... If a model starts its move in an enemy models control zone, can it move out of this control zone then charge a different enemy model (assuming has LOS and sufficient move remaining)? |

Can you give an example? Because I cannot think of when this happens normally |

Yes , a model who is starting in an enemy's control zone( because of backing away during previous round of combat) must either charge into base contact or may move away. |

Say a model loses a fight then backs away into another enemies control zone. |

Yes it can. The Hobbit rules are the first time it is mentioned explicitly, which is quite weird for a 13 years old game and for a situation that happens all the time. -- Pasi |

Yeah this typically happens when models fall back from combat and enters an enemy model's control zone. Next turn that's where they start from... I found the rule on p22 of Hobbit rule book, under Control Zones... States where a model starts its move in an enemies control zone, it has 3 options: 1) remain stationary 2) charge any of the enemy models whose control zone it starts its move in 3) move out of the enemy control zones it has started in, such that it does not move closer to these models as it does so... The next part of the rules discusses Charges, and that these are a special move that allows a model to enter another models control zone, and move into base to base contact.... So whilst not explicit under the Control Zone rules, it seems reasonable to assume that if a model can 'move' out of the initial control zone, and that 'move' could be a special type of move called a 'charge' then , yes, you can charge a different enemy model, than the one whose control zone you started in ... I hope that makes sense? |

After a bit of pondering, yes. I hadn't actually thought about the Charge that way, but yes, sounds reasonable. Another typical situation is when battle lines meet and some fighters from both sides fall back and some remain stationary. See the figure below for what I mean. In the battle Orc 1, Orc 3 and Man 2 are beaten back 1", but Man 1 and Man 3 still remain in Orc 2's control zone. -- Pasi |
