I owe the rotk rule manual and am happy with that. However i think i will have to buy the official one soon. As this is quite expensive i have just a few questions to it. Ok perhaps im just blind but i cant seem to find the answers to this question, even after i read the article about the book..

1. Are ALL ( at that time availabel) unit profiles in the book? ( except for the army of the dead and an orc capitain as i read..)i mean like the Mumak, Sauron the necromcaner ect... or do i have to buy the sourcebooks for that?

2. Are the rule chages from rotk to the official really big?

I really need some help/advice on this!

All help welcome, please help!

thank you

I don't know about RotK to compare, but not, not all the units are in the big rule book, not a by a longshot :) By now you'll need the sourcebooks, and any WD issues that contain profiles you want (eg: new Galadhrim, new Easterlings, new Rohan and Isengard, etc).

yeah i think you have to buy it. theres quite alot of rules that have changed(that i know of anyway) and alot of the points costs have changed aswell like legolas, gimli, haldir, theoden, and celeborn. also i think the throwing weapons rule is different in the rotk rulebook than the other one.

Ok thank all of you.

Just one last question...

could anyone give me a summary of Legions of middle earth?
This is somthing else i know.. but what?

Is it for the strategy battle game?

If yes what is included?
Which stats?

thanx

Legions of Middle Earth (LoME) is for SBG only. It has no stats. It has:

- rules for army composition (min and max troops at point levels, bow limits, etc)
- army lists and legal alliances
- point values for warriors and heroes (but no profiles)
- a host of generic scenarios (12, I think, I don't have the book here)

The point values are pretty out of date, and some of the army compositions and alliances have changed, so you'd still need a sourcebook for the region/race you want to build an army for to have the latest information.

IMHO it's worth it for the scenarios, I don't think they're available online (could be wrong about that).

ok just yet another question (sorry)

Is there a rule that you can only field armys that fit together? I.e Gondor with gondor, Harad with Harad... i am really not updated.......

Or is this just a suggestion from GW?

Legal alliances are defined in LoME, or in the relevant sourcebooks that postdate it. You can always do whatever you want in friendly games, but the LoME alliances help make sure a battle is both thematic and balanced. For example, you can't ally Tower of Ecthelion (Gondor at the end of the 3rd Age) with Arnor, since Arnor no longer existed. But any reasonable alliance is allowed, such as Lothlorien + some armies of Rohan, check the listing for each to see what works.

Well in the rotk rule book he costed 85points in the new one he costs 5 pts more. He now also has an extra point of fate and his deadly shot rule has been made better.

Guys, we aren't supposed to give out points costs, it's against the forum guidelines as they're copyrighted by GW ;)

You can use treebeard/ents with WoMT, as long (if you play according LOME) you tend the rules of LOME.

ok so i am reviving this thread cause i got more questions and did not want to start a new one

Okay so my questions are all according to the ROTK. I the rules have changed since then i dont know it.

1. Where (in what book or PDF document) can i find the newest stats for Elrond&Gil-Galad? Cause they have changed since the ROTK book i guess

2. okay a really "rule question"

What happends when Sauron lord of the rings is hit by the King of the dead or a dragon fire?

He doenst have fate points enough to save "all his wounds" but can basically save his last wound as often as he wants.

So does he just die? that would be awful :o !!

Ooh.. that is difficult, well the rules are so designed that the evil army´s just can play against each other.
But let me check my rulebook (I'm not at home.. but somehow I have my rulebooks with me when I'm at my girlfriends house.. that's odd)

Okay, the rules about the dragon say that the model you fight against suffers 1 hit, so not a hit for every wound. If Sauron doesn't saves his wounds he is dead.

If he has the ring you can try that one after you used his last fatepoints.

If you hit him with the king of the dead, you must be very lucky..
Sauron has 3 attacks and pretty high courage, some magic and might.
The king of the dead has only 1 attack and no might, but if you manage to hit him (another rulebook I have with me -_-)) Sauron is dead if Sauron doesn't manage to save his life with fate points.

As far as I know, there arn't new stats for Elrond and Gil-Galad, except for the stats in the new rulebook.
Elrond does have some new rules (and a new model), which are in the WD archives. If you want a link, just shout.

I hope I helped you, if not, I'll try to explain it a little more.

Thanks!
