Post subject:  SBG: dragons, wounds, and courage

If a dragon is wounded, but makes a fate roll, does he still have to roll courage to see if he flees? Usually the rules are explicit about the use of fate in abnormal circumstances, for example: for the dragon's fire breath it states that the target can use fate to avoid the wound. However, the use of fate is not mentioned in the Survival Instinct description.

I would say no because it says that if the dragon is wounded it must pass a courage test. Passing a fate role would negate the wound. No wound means no need for a courage test.

that makes sence to me because he doesn't magicly lose the wound it just never happened.

No wound, no test. The successful Fate roll actually means that the Wound never happened, not that it was negated....Or at least, that's how I have always understood it.

i think that if it didn't work this way then a dragon would die very quickly and would almost never lose it's last wound. it makes more sence that it can have up to 3 non courage contested wounds.

Thanks to the Fate rule change in ORB, no test is taken.
