Hey all I was curious as to the point of FV. Is it only used when u roll to c who wins the fight and there's a tie?I keep reading how important it is but I can't see that if it only matters on a tie. Well thx for any help guys!

A'h, the classic newbie question :) It may not seem a big deal and probably isn't when its a one-on-one match up. But when multiple dice are involved the chance of a tie is very high, imagine a couple of captains slugging it out with support or even surrounding, that could be 3 or 4 dice rolled per player - a draw is almost guaranteed. Even if its just 2 battle lines clashing with support with 2 dice each, F makes a big difference even then.

an example

its better to fight with 2 attacks and a Higher Fight
then with 3 attacks and a lower fight

so thats why I like Elves :P

More fighting skill is particularly useful for powerful heroes who have large stores of might, or powerful beasts like trolls. Someone like Aragorn, who gets to spend one point of might free each turn, can be very difficult to bring down if you don't have any models who can equal him for fighting skill. You would just have to wait and hope that eventually he doesn't get a 5 or a 6 to win.

Also, as hithero has mentioned, the more attacks in a fight, the more likely both of you may get the same highest result (possibly a 6). Fighting elves is always a problem. If they have support and a banner nearby (3 die to win per combat), the ordinary warriors can easily defeat your captains and if they get a 6, no amount of might can save you.
