Hello,
I played against Smaug for the first time last week. I enjoyed the game, and it was a nicely painted model, though kind of tough to play against!
Afterwards I was thinking it would have been easier if my (good) archers could have shot Smaug while he was in combat. Smaug was fighting my army every turn, which rendered all my archers useless, as I couldn't shoot into combat. (Obviously, they needed to run into combat where possible).
Has anyone ever debated/play-tested allowing good models to shoot into combats involving Smaug (or a mumak)? Realistically I think maybe an archer should hit Smaug on a 2-6 or 3-6, and your own combatant on a 1, but even having the option to shoot into combat on a 50/50 chance (like an evil player could) would help.
It seems weird to think that (for example) 12 high elf archers would stand idly by watching a dragon eat their comrades, rather than risk a shot.
Maybe such a change would weaken Smaug too much? But curious if anyone's tried it.
