I know it comes down to individual taste, but can anyone give me a painting guide ( or there own version anyway), of how you paint the escape from goblin town set scenery parts?

I haven't finished painting my set but i went for the quick and easy method.

Buy cheap can of brown spray paint, spray set.

Paint bones etc bleached bone and other detail in the colours of your choice.

Paint the whole thing with a black wash. Done.

Quick cheap and nasty, just like a goblin would want.

It is hard for me to give painting advice on this forum because I don't use GW paint.

Step one. Wash the plastic with dish soap to remove the mold release.
Step two. Prime the plastic parts with flat black spray.
Step three. Dry brush the whole model with dark brown paint. Add ochre to you mix and continue dry brushing and blending to you have wood brown color.
Step three. Use ivory for bones. Use a raw umber wash. Black washes make models look oily. Perfect for trains and tanks or chain mail but not shadows.

I don't think we are too far off topic. The point is to make a nice table. The backdrop was made from Pine Bark. That may be hard to get in the UK. I checked it is available from landscape supply but you won't be able to get large sections free. The backdrop was primed black and dry brushed with cold gray craft paints. It has a Raw Umber wash on it.
The wood was made from different kinds of scrap. There are split pine off cuts, craft sticks, and coffee stirrers in the mix. I stained the wood before the Plastic kit was released. I went back and painted some of it when the plastic kit came out. I primed it with black and dry brushed it with the same colors as the plastic. The table is covered with a gray felt game matt.
I think it would be helpful to list the GW names for the colors that are normally used by most of the people that post here

I noticed there is also one of the repainted Christmas Village back drops on the the left side of the photo. Lemax I think.

OW: what do you use or where do you get Raw Umber wash? I imagine you're using something bulk. Although I've found good craft store options for most paints I use in large bulk I have not tracked down good advice on a viable alternative to the washes. I was considering watering down some brown but from experience with the GW washes is that they just work better than what I have been able to achieve on my own.
