Post subject:  Some Battle Companies Questions

Going off the 3.1 rules for Battle Companies, I have a few questions that don't seem to be covered in the rules, or perhaps i've just missed them:

1. For "Heroic Presence" and "Rapid Fire" in the Fighting/Shooting Special Table's, are these one use per game? Does it come back in the next game played? Or can I use it multiple times in one game?
2. On the "Warrior Advancement Table", what does "Promoted" actually do? There seems to be no other mention of Promotions anywhere
3. For models that have retreated the battle, do they come back in the next game? Are they classed as injured, Or are they just gone forever?

Thanks,
David

I'm guessing this has nothing to do with LOTR. If it doesn't it should be moved to a different forum.

Its about Battle Companies, it has everything to do with LOTR. Battle Companies are a special supplement ruleset for the SBG originally released in White Dwarf and updated by player communities.

I can answer question 2.

When you role on the chart, you can "promote" a model into a different and usually better unit type. For example you could promote a Haradrim Warrior into a Serpent Guard. From now on that model in your battle company is a serpent Guard and not a Haradrim Warrior.

Thanks, obviously I had never heard of this until today. I can only find rules up to 2.0. Does anyone have a link to further updates?

Thanks. If nothing else this 'game-type' looks interesting.

IIRC, Erunion has done a lot of work on it.

for question 1. they can be used over and over again in a single battle its like a normal hero in lotr eg: boromirs horn can be used over and over again:

for question 2: there should be a promotion chart on the companies profile some units cannot be promoted to a better unit eg: a warg. but they can still be promoted into a hero when rolling for promotion.

for question 3: this is a bit of a tricky one to find. and some times the person organizing it might change it but it is this. when a model retreats of the table there fine to fight the next battle. but like a said u have to talk to the person that is organizing it since it can be exploited by bowmen. i shoot kill a few of your models and then run of the board getting no wounded.

my gaming store is holding on right now and we all agreed we wouldn't do that tactic unless you know your worriers are about to die ( eg: half of your army left)
