Hello everyone, I'm new to LotR but I'm an experienced Fantasy and 40k player. Last night I picked up a bunch of Gondor miniatures from a friend and I have enough for a 500 point army! Which is quite exciting. I've got the following models: Prince Imrahil on Foot 1 Citidel Guard with Bow (might use him as a captain) 15 Warriors of Minas Tirith w/ Bow 9 Warriors of Minas Tirith w/ Spear/Shield 10 Warriors of Minas Tirith w/Sword/Shield 11 Warriors of Numenor w/ Sword/Shield 6 Army of the Dead models With this I built the folowing lists. Both are just under a 500pt limit. 1 Prince, 15 Warriors w/ Bow, 9 w/ Spear, 9 w/ Shield, 6 Army of the Dead I could also make this list if I used the prince as a captain: 1 Captain w/Shield, 1 Captain w/ Bow, 15 Warriors w/ Bow, 9 w/ Spear, 10 w/ Shield, 9 Numenor w/ Shield, 6 Dead I think the first is illegal due to the bow limit? What should I add to these lists? I was thinking some Knights of Dol Amroth and Faramir's Rangers? I like the looks of these models. Any thoughts? |

The first is also illegal because of the warband rule - you basically need at least one hero per 12 infantry models. Additionally, as far as I know, you need the King of the Dead to be allowed to field Warriors of the Dead as he is the only model that can lead them. That's a basic answer, other users are much better versed in the rules than I and can probably give you a more detailed answer and recommendations... Edit: oh and welcome to the site! |

As stated above, you need a Hero to lead every 12 Warriors. Additionally, your models are split among three army factions - Minas Tirith (Warriors of Minas Tirith, Citadel Guard), The Fiefdoms (Imrahil, Prince of Dol Amroth, Warriors of the Dead) and NĂºmenor (Warriors of NĂºmenor). For every 12 Warriors from the Minas Tirith army faction, you need a Hero from Minas Tirith. For every 12 Warriors from the Fiefdoms army faction, you need a Hero from the Fiefdoms. Warriors of the Dead and the King of the Dead are The Fiefdoms models, but all The Fiefdoms Heroes can lead Warriors of the Dead - Imrahil can lead Warriors of the Dead, for examle, and the King of the Dead can lead Knights of Dol Amroth. If you're using Imrahil, I would suggest getting some Knights of Dol Amroth and perhaps some Men-at-arms. |
