Hi all,

I'm gaz and i've slowly aquired models over the last 2-3 years but never played the game. I've always liked the idea of the defenders of helms deep and I've collected most of the models.

I've noticed that i need to do warbands? but there not in the main rules.

So is it still possible to do a themed list with warbands or is it not very themed any more?

gaz

Hey there, welcome to the forum.

Warband rules are in the 5 army source books (kingdoms of men, mordor, free peoples, moria & angmar, fallen realsm) as well as being in the new updated main rule book.

It's still possible to do themed lists- very much so. They just need some extra thinking about sometimes.

For the defenders of helms deep you'd have each of the main characters (theoden, gamling, eomer etc) leading a warband of 12 warriors from the Rohan army list (from the Kingdoms of Men asource book). Then in order to have more warriors, you would need to add in Rohan captains- 1 captain for each 12 warriors you wanted.

Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas could either be taken from the Fellowship army list (free peoples book) and play as a single warband. Or they could be taken as 3 seperate warbands (gives more deployment flexability) from their own individual army lists.

Of course, if you're playing with good friends in a relaxed environment then you could throw all that out of the window and just do as you like when forming your army!

Yup. All Good armies can ally together as can all Evil armies.
So you can have Haldir and 12 Galadrim as an allied warband. And of course you can expand that with more captains and warriors.

Not that Elves allied to the Defenders of Helm's Deep is actually themed. It isn't really but youget the idea.

Welcome to One Ring 8)
