I am soon going to be painting my High Elf army and had a question. Does it matter what colour you paint your minatures? I have looked at the Blue and Gold colour scheme for the High Elves and that seems to be the most common one. However, I saw in a D'Agostini magazine (issue 22) there was a green and silver/grey colour scheme for the High Elves. Does it go against the rules (in a tournament for example) to have different coloured minatures to the norm? Any answers would be appreciated. |

You can paint your mini's however you like. There are no rules regarding paint schemes at tournaments. Be sure to post pictures of whatever you're working on. Its always good to see other people's work, plus there are some incredible painters on here who will always give you tips and pointers. I think I know the green and silver one you're talking about, and it was really good, I considered it for my high elves (which are still lying unpainted on my workstation. |

Thanks for your reply. It's good to know you can be a bit individual with your own miniatures. I just need to pluck up the courage to give it a go! If anyone has the picture I am thinking of it would be good if you could post it on here as I am only working from memory at the moment. |

The High Elves shown in the 'prologue' part of FotR wear green and gold - http://www.framecaplib.com/lotrlib/html ... tr0011.htm I like this combination of colours. |

Khazad is quite right, paint them however you want! It is an excellent way to give your models a greater degree of theme- that way they can very easily be from a different location in Middle Earth or a different battallion of related warriors- whatever you choose to do with them! Best of luck! |

I say go for it! i like to see the originality of others when painting minis. One thing that I like to do is paint different minis with different weapons with slightly different color around a central theme. It's similar to how armies in the 18 & 19 century would identify infantry from light infantry, cavalry heavy and light or artillery. Have fun with it!!! |

Part of the joy of the hobby is taking the models and making them your own. My Thoirn has a white beard, I am just finishing the elfish runes on his sword blade. Why, cause as my leader I wanted him to look more wise, have equipment befitting a hero of old. Don't be afraid to paint outside the lines and try something even if you don't think your skills are up to it. Creating a concept or story around your models or army can make every battle more fun. I like customize post battle awards to models that really turned the tide of a lost battle or preformed some epic deed. Maybe upgrade a piece of armor to gold, add a head to the base or belt, etc. Have fun, and post some pics in the WIP section when you get started Cheers |

Sorry but that would be blue cloaks and green/gold armour for the Elves of the Last Alliance. Elrond has some green material. ;p |
