My collection began for WOTR. In the profile, the defense is presented as say 3(5) for Mahud. In SBG the Mahud Defense is 5. Included in their profile is Armor and Shield. My question is... Is this the final Defense, or does he get +1 for shield |

Yeah it is the final defence. Anything defensive as extra that you apply from the armoury then an increment is made otherwise not. |

If a profile says nothing (like Theoden) and you buy Armor, his defense goes up 1. If you give him heavy armor instead, it goes up 2. If you give him a shield, it goes up 1. So if you buy him Heavy armor and a shield, it goes up 3. The defence in the profile is final UNLESS you pay additional points for armor etc. |

Thank you for all that. I was reading it just the way you explained Theoden. Still, Mahud Warriors should have kept the 2 attacks! |

Draugluin wrote: lordgoober wrote: thus the needed faq question for the Riders of the Dead in the new book. Is the shield extra or does it come with the profile? The shield is extra for the foot warriors, but comes in the profile for the riders. They both have the same defence in the profile. So, the foot warriors can have one more defence than the mounted warriors, even though they are both equipped the same... |

I noticed that too, it would make sense in WotR though, as lots of infantry have a different base defece to their cavalry counter part. In SBG though, they just didn't think it through. |

it's more a copy and paste issue from Gondor in Flames. In Gondor in Flames, they had the exact same profiles but no extra equipment options. In the new book they just copied and pasted the profiles and added the special gear without adjusting the profiles to that gear. |
