I've just looked through the new kingdoms of men source book, and I’ve noticed that none of the entries list hand weapons under the wargear entry. Does this mean that every model in the game now is considered to be equipped with a hand weapon? If so doesn’t that make the elven blade rules obsolete? As a Clansman could have both a two handed weapon and a hand weapon effectively giving him an elven blade |

Yup thats pretty much the way it is now. Think of it not as an elf blade possessing specail properties anymore, and think of it as buying an elf two-handed weapon just like any other faction |

In the ORB, on page42, it states that a model that is unarmed will be clearly specified that in its entry. So, I believe that all models have ALWAYS had, unless stated, at least have a dagger. So, a Clansman always has a choice to blast away with his 2hd weapon or go in for a slice and dice using his/her dagger. Fresh from the FAQ on the GW site (all have been updated Feb.2012) Q: Some profiles imply that a warrior doesn’t have a hand weapon – for example, those for Elf Warriors say they have “no equipment” in their base profile. Does that mean they’re unarmed? (var) A: All models have a hand weapon unless they’re specifically described as being “unarmed”. So Elf Warriors do have hand weapons. There ya go |

There ya go Aye, this is all old news. I'm not going to go into detail on how this robs elves in the first place, that is another topic and is stated quite often. What this topic is saying is that in the old profiles, there WAS units that said they had no other weapons, however, this was removed so EVERYONE now has one. So Elves again, get the hard end of the shaft. Since Galadhrim warriors are stock with the blade, I prefer to trade it in for a spear for free. Any models that have sword for now are going into my "maybe I'll paint later" bin as I really have no use for a two-handed sword elf. I sure as heck could use a normal one handed elf in my lines, but spear and shield will have to do. |

This is the same with all Sourcebooks, I'm not sure why and it's not major but the point of it doesn't seem relevant. |
