I did a search for these questions but was unable to get a good answer. Ok so I come from warhammer 40k / warmachine background so please bear with me. I have not purchased any models or books yet. Here are my questions: 1. I saw Tom Bombadil on the GW site and his stats and special abilities seem odd compared to all the others I have seen. Are he and his lady playable or just for giggles? 2. Army comp wise.... If i get the "Free Peoples" book will I be able to play with any of the models included in the book or is it broken up into many different armies? And is the the same for each of the army books? 3. My wife is interested in the Tree Ent. Is there an entire Ent list? If so; is it playable? 4. Is the book in the mines of moria set the same as the hard cover book you can buy off of the shelf? Thanks in advance for not laughing out my newb questions. |

1) Tom Bombadil and his wife used to be unplayable outside certain scenarios but from what I heard they are completely playable under the recently released sourcebooks. 2) Yes you can play with any of the models in the book. This goes for all book. Although they are different armies they aren't treated as separate so you can have for example an army of Dwarves with Ents. 3) Yes if you have Treebeard to lead them you can field an army comprising only of Ents. 4) The mines of Moria book is just a shorter version of the hard cover book. If I am mistaken in some of my answers can a more experienced member please correct me, although I am pretty sure most of the things I said stand. Welcome to the game, I hope you and your wife find it enjoyable and fun::) |

Just to clarify this: the rules section of the MoM book is exactly the same page-for-page as the rules section of the big hardcover book (ORB). MoM only has a few profiles, ORB has a lot more, but since a lot of them have changed now, there is no point in getting ORB if you have MoM. |

Thanks in advance for not laughing out my newb questions. Congrats on trying out a superior game system! lol 1. Yes, he can now be used, haven't seen if his pt cost has changed, but he can't die and ALWAYS wins his fights. 2. You have to have at least one hero from X faction to include warriors from X faction. You also have to have a 1/12 ratio of heros to warriors. 3. Tree Ent as opposed to a Stone Ent? lol Yes, you can have Treebeard and up to 12 Ents and/or eagles as a single army. Never played against an Ent, but they're better then a troll, and them things are scary. 4. Minus some now useless profiles and some modelling tips, they're the same. |

You could always use Tom, he was, and may still be, banned from tourney's though. |

You couldn't use him outside of the Barrowdowns or the Old Forest. I doubt people payed attention to that limitation, but it was there. |

Draugluin wrote: But he auto wins and restores allies to their original condition. Not quite their "original" condition. Also, they're both about double the cost they used to be. At 300 points for the pair, it's a huge portion of any army. I can't see that using them even in a tournament would be unbalancing. |

I figured they would have to majorly increase their cost, as before they were only going to "fight" Barrowwights. |
