is there a limit to the amount of alliances you can have? can you say have a 1000 point army , made up from 4 different teams (from LoME) |

You can have as many as you like but they must all be legal as if they were a lone army, each has a max 1/3 bow and must have a hero. And all must be able to ally with all the others. |
