I shall have to hunt down my Tale of Years at some point- RoTK is proving to be elusive.

Found a White Dwarf #307 with a Battle of Fornost scenario with the following forces:

Good side

Círdan
Eärnur
6 Rangers of the North
1 Captain of Minas Tirith
Glorfindel
8 Warriors of Minas Tirith with Bow
8 Warriors of Minas Tirith with Spear
8 Warriors of Minas Tirith
6 Knights of Minas Tirith
6 High elves with Elven bows
6 High elves with Elven Blades
6 High elves with Spear
12 Hobbit archers

Evil Side

Witch king
1 Duskwraith
2 Revenants
1 Warlord of Carn Dûm
4 Barrow wights
6 Spectres
6 Spectral Wargs
12 Warriors of Carn Dûm
8 Orcs with shields
8 Orcs with spears
4 Orcs with Bow
4 Orcs with two-handed weapon
6 Warg riders with throwing spears and shields
6 Warg riders with bows
2 Mordor trolls

My force is pretty similar to that one. Except that they have no Arnor warriors. And I have more than twice the size on my Elven forces and no Círdan.

@Drauglin and Gothmog- In the description of the challenge between Earnur and the Witch-king in the Appendixes of the RotK before the description of the first stewards, Earnur is described as riding to Minas Morgul with a small retinue of knights. And none of those who rode were ever heard from again.

I think that the force is quite capable- it gives some flexibility in troop types, a fair number of warriors, and is rather strong all-around, except in cavalry.

@Valamir, Oh, you found the reference. Sorry my mistake.

@Garnukk, I have that WD too, Warriors of Arnor didn't exist when that list was written, and nor does an official profile for Cirdan. I love the look of both of those armies though.

@Gothmog- Don't worry about it- I've done the same thing many, many times.

Haha yeah I know that the Arnor forces didn't excist then. Thats what I found so funny. They made the battle anyway 8)
I'm thinking of an Angmar army myself just to have one so I can display a real Battle of Fornost. Would be cool :)

Something that I thought was a little annoying (and possibly just an oversight) is that Hobbit Archers are no longer part of the Arnor army list. No big deal right, with the new ally rules just bring them in from the Shire list. But, if you want a themed/period late Arnor/Arthedan army, it would seem a little strange to have a contingent of hobbits being led by Peregrin, Captain of the Shire, or Paladin Took. An idea I had, would be for a generic "Captain of the Shire Levy" hobbit hero, about the same stats and cost as Peregrin. That would solve the theme problem (at least to my thinking) and sounds somewhat plausible lorewise (again, to my thinking). Maybe a representative of the Shire at Arvedui's court in Fornost responsible for providing a force of soldiers in an emergency (as actually happened). Or maybe just a house rule that puts hobbit archers back in the Arnor list. Anyway, your thoughts?

I don't think so. For a themed force you can have a differently painted/modelled Pippin with a different name but the same rules.
