Somehow I never got into LOTR SBG, but having watched the films again recently, I have been digging out my old White Dwarfs to read the articles, and scouring eBay for figures I like.

Thus far I have a Mines of Moria set, and the beginnings of Rohan and Isengard armies - Hope to convince my wife and also my regular gaming buddy to both give it a go with me :)

I've also been watching the GBHL videos on Youtube, really informative stuff!

Welcome!

I love the hobby. The modelling part is amazing, I love the tone of the lotr miniatures compared to the over-designed Devlan Mud I see in fantasy nowadays (included stuff from the same company).
Among the old metal stuff there are authentic gems.

The game system is very simple and elegant, among the best two made by GW in my humble opinion (the other is Blood Bowl).

I think I can say you can play with any model that is not an houseruled Balrog. It is waaaay more than you can say for any other miniature game.

Thanks for the welcome!

Just had a parcel arrive from GW, so my 500pt Rohan force is now complete - All it needs is assembling and painting! ;)

Have look at Great british Hobbit League (GBHL) ON You Tube and Facebook. They have regular tourneys around the country and good way to cut your teeth on the game and hobby. Alot of the tournys have really cool custom boards (off the top of my head the last tourny had scale Weather tops and Amon Hen, at a tourny up North they a super cool Dol Guldor board , all way way above by modeling ability). Have look on the facebook page to see some of the things they do, It really is worth at least doing that to get an idea of whats around.

Welcome! Obviously Rohan v Isengard is quite thematic so that is a good place to start :)

That's the hard part! Start a WIP down in the hobby section so we can cheer you on and keep you motivated.
