If you equip a hero with a bow does it count as part of the bow limit, or extra ?

It doesn't factor into the calculations.
Warriors count towards the bow limit, Heroes don't.
2 Heroes and 18 Warriors means a bow limit of 6. The Heroes can have bows, or not, they aren't taken into account.

YUP. Thats why dudes like Elves, Beregond and Damrod in Same Army, etc are a nice little edge.

I still wouldnt waste one on say A Beorn, Aragorn, even Eomer, or others that dont come with them because they are heroes that need to be in the thick of things.....
