Those are some good Harad stand-ins. I'll add them to the Alternative Miniature Thread. Thanks for posting them! Edit: Well, I was going to add them, but I can't seem to find them in the GB store. |

The key word being 'imminent' - they're to be released at SALUTE this year. |

Not everyone can afford larger games just with GW figures muppetslayer, but apart from that, these alternatives afford all sorts of conversion possibilities. I have over 1000 gw lotr figs painted up, but I still like alternatives, and they can double up for historical games!. For example there's no way you'd get me to fork out for dunlendings rank n file which are nothing more than viking/saxon types (despite being fortunate enough to readily afford them). It's a pity that quite clearly GW do not feel any adverse pressure from competitors which would otherwise get them to either lower their prices somewhat or bring out more plastics. |

Just gonna say, GW metal prices have increased like £1/£2 in the 10 or so years I have been collecting...not exactly a massive jump there = gw have cheap prices. |

If they do not offer a customer what he/she perceives to be good value, then they have every right to use alternatives. And besides, they'll still need to buy GW's rulebooks to play the game so they are still supporting GW. 50% support is still support. Surely its better that a player buys GW's rulebooks, and plays using alternative miniatures, than quit the SBG altogether and not buy any GW miniatures at all? Its a shame then that their metals are being phased out. For all my belly aching over GW's prices, I still buy their metals on occasion because I feel that most of them are still fairly priced (~ £8 to £10 for a single Hero, or a Captain & Banner). My most recent purchase being the original Halbarad Captain of the Dunedan with armour and Arwen's Banner. I've still not touched Finecast and especially not the Hobbit though (as much as I'd like to do a Forochel themed Dwarf army using Erebor Dwarves and Khazad Guard Converted from Grimhammers). |
