Just thought I’d pass on my positive experience from “The Toy Soldier Company”

http://www.toysoldierco.com/MainPages/MakerSearch.htm

There are definitely a few dodgy elements on the site, but feel free to ignore them :P

Emails were answered promptly, 3 day shipping from USA to Canada.

Feedback and updates can be viewed on their Facebook page:

If you’re not a fan of waiting for the item to pop up on eBay/bidding wars, I’d highly recommend checking this place out.

I compiled a list of some of the more worthwhile items:

*Defenders of Rohan*

Eastern Invaders

Legolas Foot and Mounted - metal version

*Gandalf the Grey on Foot and Mounted - metal version*

The Legion of the White Hand

The Evil of Isengard

Dunlending Warriors Boxed Set

Isengard Troll

Wardens of the West Gate

Mordor Orc Warriors

Mordor Orc Bowmen

Faramir's Rangers

Defenders of Minas Tirith

Minas Tirith Battle Host

Battle of Pelennor Fields Army

The Scouring of the Shire Boxed Set

Golfimbul Foot and Mounted

The Muster of Rohan

Erkenbrand of Rohan mounted and on foot

Dragon - metal version

:-D

I understand that OOP items are "more valuable" but some of those prices are ridiculous. At first I was excited about some of the older sets but 2x or 3x the original prices are beyond fair.

These prices are ridiculously high--the one most shocking was $300 for Corsair Bosun and Captain!

Ya, I wasn't kidding about “dodgy”

I really lucked out on Erkenbrand cause they listed him at such a low price compared to the finecast one. I saved money and got the metal version!

I think (at least I’m hoping) the above example is a typo mistake (30 instead of 300).

Despite the ridiculous prices, there are some goodies sprinkled among them.

Gandalf the Grey mounted for 65, scouring of the shire box set for 53.75 and the Defenders of Rohan box set for 140 (which usually goes for like 200+ on eBay) are decent grabs IMO at least.

… and hey, never hurts to try and negotiate. I think they’d be more than happy to have people interested in the GW LOTR range!

I hear ya, but let’s not forget some of these box sets are practically impossible to find nowadays. I do believe they exceed the simple “rare” title. Think abut the OOP minis in them as well! (metal Knights of Dol Amroth foot/mounted, rare captains…)

I totally understand the difficulty in finding these sets, sets like the old "Mega-forces" if I may steal that term, are great, but what made them great was they were cheaper than buying the contents seperately and you had a complete army in one box.

I understand supply and demand determines prices of everything and I don't have a problem with people making money, I'm all for it. But that being said there's a limit to what I'd call 'fair business practices' and scalping (be it models or sport tickets or anything else) is not one of them.

Edit: I'm not by any means calling the people thieves or anything, a lot of their products are fairly priced I'm speaking only on a lot of OOP's being too high in my opinion
