I have found this on my occasional stroll on HDR Tabletop, made by Tankred, who I believe is now also a member here.

As brilliant as the figure looks (and it does!), The main focus here is the Helmet. Sculpted by Ebob, he had these cast, but sadly enough all the HDR tablettoppers nabbed them before we even stood a chance.

but then!

I contacted ebob about these heads but he has none left (the German LOTR players nabbed them all). However, he may get some more made so we could yet get to make some proper SKoDA at last....!

Ooh, I bleeding hope so! They look delicious! Just how I imagined them though with a little more chainmail showing. The helmets look fabulous! Please bring 'em back Ebob :D

Ok - so what happened here was Glorunzel and Tankred have been badgering me for about a year to do some alternative heads. I had a go and did one myself, and then Frank sent thru a drawing of his own design.

It's the head here that we're talking about - the knight and horse that Frank has used here are from my Rebellion range - but the heads can be used to convert any 28mm miniature.

An interesting footnote here, is that Swan Knights is not Tolkien's idea. King Edward I (Longshanks) created his own army of 300+ Swan Knights. In repsonse to the Scottish uprising led by Robet de Brus, Edward hastily knighted 300 Squires and minor nobles at a single ceremony called 'The Feast of the Swan'. The knights rode under the banner of the Swan and were given leave to rape and pillage any Scottish villiage deemed to have aided the Rebellion.

I also used the Swan from the alternative design to convert the Bohun miniature.

Ebob, Brilliant models. the Conversion just looks so natural!

Please sell these. You'll be the hero of any decent Gondor Player, and any Collector of of your Rebellion range, for that matter. :)

I've been impressed in the past looking at your range of historical miniatures Ebob but have never seen these guys before. I actually like the horse and rider as well as the head options, they seem more 'able' to ride a horse, in chainmail and cloth rather than heavy plate and whatever else.

You have me bought! :D

The 'Bohun' model is a striking pose, I think I've seen that one on your site before. He would make a neat Imrahil if you swapped one of those Swan Heads onto him. Excellent stuff! Is the reason you have stopped selling these because there was no interest or because there is something wrong with the mould, or is it something we can help rectify?

Hope you start selling these again, now that I'm 18 I have a credit card waiting to be spent not to mention my Uni loan has come through

The Bohun model is on my site. The heads.. I made a spure of 4 heads and popped them into the Bohun mould. Trouble is, If I cast that mould I get 1 sprue of heads and 3 complete mounted Bohun models.

So if you want 20 heads - that's say 4 or 5 copies of the mould - that's great except I'll have 15 Bohun models I don't need.

So what I'd need to do, if many people want the heads - is make a new mould which just has 15 or 16 copies of the head spure in it.

I'd expect the sprues would be about £1.00 each - so 4 heads for £1.00.
But a mould costs £50. I'd need to sell around 250 heads before a made a peny in profit.

So that's the dilemna.

I'm in, I'll plan on only using the the ones with the swan "built in" the sprue, I've got legions of Swan knights, so assuming that's 2 per sprue would mean I need at least something around 18 sprues = 18 pounds.

so that's nearly 2/5th of the 50 quid dealt with. :)

Eureka minis here in Oz have a scheme where they get people to sign up for a model they want made, and when they get 300 sign-ups, they cast the model. A very cool idea in my opinion.

I'd be very interested in several (severed?) heads.

To make it attractive for other gamers outside of LOTR, perhaps there could be some weapons packs as well - axes, swords, pole-arms, etc. Would that make it a commercially viable option?

To be honest I'm not over keen on the bird sat on top of the helm version, but the top one that Frank painted is the mutts nuts Bob.

I'd buy 20. Enough for 10 foot and mounted.

Hell, I'd probably buy 10 or so Knights to go along with the heads! I think that the "regulars" here would buy enough to put you in the black after making the mould. After that, some advertising in the form of conversion posts both here and on TLA (and maybe Warseer too?) would bring in even more money!

Plus, think of all those happy people!
