Final voting for 'Best Historical Miniature 2007' has begun.

I have two miniatures in the final round, Longshanks and Bruce.

Currently 'Mad Jim' the not very historical pirate is winning the vote! so come on everyone! hop over and poke your vote in!

Hi, Ebob.

I think you shot yourself in the foot by entering two minis - or were they selected? Whatever! The combined votes for both your great figures = more than the votes for the cool-looking (though inferior) pirate figure.

My vote goes to Longshanks. The lions on the horse's coat (don't know the correct term, sorry) are astoundingly good - which makes them even better than a Mister Kipling's apple pie!

Good luck!

I didn't nominate the minis myself - they were chosen by public vote.

Both Longshanks and Robert the Bruce look ace, very well sculpted and that... but I must say, this last mini is simply stunning! The pose, the sense of movement, the muscles tension, and of course your skilsl make it what I would call a "classic" mini. It just begs for Henry the Bohum and a paintjob to make a little vignette.

Its probably your best sculpt Ebob... so far. ;)

Bruce had my vote! 8)

You have my (web) cookie! Both look great and are far more historically accurate than the pirate. I would have had a hard time deciding if one wasn't already well in the lead (and very close to the pirate). So that one got my vote.

I would have posted this request myself Bob, but I was away on a fishing trip.

It is unfortunate that your two minis are competing agai9nst each other and diluting each other's votes. But Longshanks is neck and neck with the (stereo-typical) pirate dude, so hopefully a few more days should see it rise to the top as it so definitely deserves.

Longshanks has my vote, and has since the 1st round as did Dave's Birch Tree Giant (sorry he didn't go as far Dave...he is a brilliant sculpt).

I am sad to say that this vote has been cancelled due to suspicions of cheating.

I noticed that some of the categories had a ridiculous number of votes cast and was wondering about how that was happening. Looks like a few selfish and thoughless people spoiled what could have been a prestigious honor for some hard working sculptors.

Yes it is a shame. I have just posted my feelings on the matter over at TGN. I wasn't going to, but the more I read about it the more annoyed I got.

Ebob, Just for the record I voted for Robert the Bruce in both rounds of the Historical category. Not because you encouraged me to, but because I honestly believed it to be the best model there.

Does anyone know which category the cheat voting affected, or was it all of them?

I noticed that two days ago, but haven't posted in this thread until now. This is something entirely unexpected. I thought Bruce and Longshanks were the best, and I had a hard time picking between them - eventually it was the dynamic pose that won me over. I expect the panel of judges will end up deciding between one or the other.

After those two, I liked the biplane more than "Mad Jim" (who I would have been mad to vote for!). It was a shame that the people's vote had to be brought into question, though. :(

Is there any news on this, someone was cheating? Did ebob win?

The suspicions of cheating were never proved (publicly) and so we're left to wonder what went wrong. But I understand that the voting between Battletech and another game was ridiculously fierce so I suspect that was the area where people were doing the wrong thing.

So the Readers Choice Awards were cancelled and instead the editors chose a 'top 10' list for each category and then trimmed that down to a 'top 10' products for the entire year. And eBob's Longshanks made it into this final list. The winner will be chose in a few days.

So a heartfelt WELL DONE! to Bob for making the final cut against the best sculptors in the world.
