I've gotten into a new fantasy/Samuurai game. It plays a bit like Malifaux only easier and with a new dice combat mechanism. You can download the rules and view the cards on their site: http://www.bushido-thegame.com/

And my Monk starter force:

I really like that turtle and water mini. Is it a skirmish game?

Yup, all the characters have detailed background and abilities. The combat mechanism is different from anything else with its compare dice results method, although this is not new, the way they deal with it is. Models have a combat pool of dice, when an attack is declared both participants decide how many of there dice go into attack or defence. Roll the dice. The attackers compares his highest attack die against the targets defence and work out the result. The defender now compares his attack dice against his assailents defence dice. You also have dice triggers (rolling a certain number)that may activate an ability such as knock down or decapitate.

Great looking minis Dave, painting and basing is top notch. I might even have to add a few of their minis from the store to my want list as they do some nice stuff.

I reckon one of the good things about skirmish games is that each model really makes a difference, so it pushes you to paint the models as if all of them were heroes. In larger games I always batch paint troops in order to save time but in this way I sacrifice any nice details that make a model look unique.
